When washing brains, it is best to put those close to the dirty laundry through the rinse cycle.

OOookay... You've said this twice now, on both South Park threads, so I know you think it's really clever.... but what does it ~mean~?

Actually the doublepost was a dumb mistake. But my sentiment is not - the man let the brainwashing bet the better of him. There is nothing about SP that is politically correct about religion. The very fist short was Jesus V Santa for Pete's sake. I'm not going to spell out the analogy, however.

Your inability to explain yourself suggests you're precisely the kind of South Park fan I was talking about. Besides, I was talking about the "uninformed critic" before you were ...

(yawn) Yeah. Don't you have to go work on your fart fixation or something? "I was blah blah blah before YOU were." Grow up, you child. You're obviously too tightly wound to deal with something as free-form and witty as South Park. Isn't Garrison Keillor or Lawrence Welk on?

I bet they're wrong about which episode really upset him.

Sucker bet. Let "Red hot Catholic Love" go by and get offended by "Bloody Mary" Shore

recent episodes displaying "inappropriate ridicule of religious communities."

"Religious beliefs are sacred to people and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."
Recent? South Park has been doing it all along
And Isaac, remember this?
CHEF Stan, sometimes God takes those closest to us, because it makes him feel better about himself. He is a very vengeful God, Stan. He's all pissed off about something we did thousands of years ago. He just can't get over it, so he doesn't care who he takes. Children, puppies, it don't matter to him, so long as it makes us sad. Do you understand.
STAN But then, why does God give us anything to start with?
CHEF Well, look at it this way: if you want to make a baby cry, first you give it a lollipop. Then you take it away. If you never give it a lollipop to begin with, then it would have nothin' to cry about. That's like God, who gives us life and love and help just so that he can tear it all away and make us cry, so he can drink the sweet milk of our tears. You see, it's our tears, Stan, that give God his great power.
Great big Scientologist poopyhead.

I'll play devil's advocate only in the details because I don't join those who say "South Park is an equal opportunity offender" as if they bash everyone without discrimination. I think that's a shallow view that asserts they really believe nothing. I think they in fact do have opinions and a point.

I don't think they've bashed the Christian faith or Catholics in South Park episodes. They've addressed and pointed a finger at the way certain ~scandals~ have been handled, or how certain fringy groups within faiths have acted kooky, or made a bit of fun of personalities, but they haven't bashed Christianity, Judaism, or even Islam itself as KOOKERY. They did do that to the Mormans, and to Scientology. It was more pointed.

I didn't see any of the above referenced episodes...so I can't really comment.

Sounds like a plan

Capricious bannings/suspensions like this are quite frustrating.

Ditto that. I don't post often, but given my history and past posts I'd like to think that I'd have some leeway if I did. Banning Evening Star of all people leaves me with the impression that I risk walking on thin ice if I ever dare post in a controversial thread.

Maybe there's more to the story, but I thought this site was above such impulsive banning. Old Cracker was posting nonsense for quite a long while before he was finally put out to pasture. On the bright side, looking at the thread so far, looks like we might have an Old Cracker replacement.....

You take the letters of "Evening Star" and rearrange them, you get "Stings a nerve". Coincidence?? I think not! Wait a second! You also get "Vegas Intern" .... hmmm....this calls for more study! (/Maxwell Smart)

Boy, I sure hope they make fun of Chef (if in fact they do release him from his contract) by taking his prior episodes and clearly cutting them to use his voice in an even more completely anti-Scientology way. Maybe make Chef dig up L. Ron Hubbard's grave and pee on his bones or something.

Damned if I will refer to TDFKAS (the dumbass formerly known as Shaft) as anything but Chef from here on, either. That idiot had to have known it was coming, and I am proud of South Park for skewering his absurd church just as they have every other sacred cow.

What a fool Chef is. On soooooo many levels. Now the Scientology episode will be even MORE popular, and one more Scientologist will be begging for money on the streets.

I'm still sad about losing a good character, so I don't really want to punish TDFKAS... I guess I hope they part as friends, but if they don't.... Well, anyone who's seen Cannibal the Musical, Matt and Trey's college project, knows that you should never betray a songwriter or a comedian, or particularly a comedic songwriter. ;~D

"If Trey and Matt come to FR, I hope they read this: The Plot: Chef buys some muffins (insert numerous 'muff jokes') made by Cartman's mom, who decorates them with some... err... odd bodily fluids. He gets something very rare from it, and dies in a touching finale scene, in which -- when Chef dies -- Kenny screams "They killed Chef!!!" and the rest of them yell "YOU BASTARDS!!!""

I'd prefer it became a running gag where in every episode KENNY kills Chef.

Exactly. I suggested Kenny kill Chef every episode, but your idea is pretty good too. Why not do both, where the guest voice only speaks one line, Chef's dying words of "Goodbye, Children!"

I don't think the Scientologist crowd will let Chef go back--if he does, they'll prolly publish his confession of a criminal act or something else they got him to admit to during 'auditing.' So I don't see it being resolved in a way that lets him leave as a friend.
