Jenny was here earlier and I just now got to get back and really look at your pictures. Very pretty. I love the scenery pictures.

Is the saddle grace has on the one you thought you were going to have to sell? Is it working with her? Have you tried it on the horse you didn't think it fit again, and tried testing his back after he dried off? Just curious:)

At least your shoer showed up. Mine had an emergency and couldn't come. Tuffy is sore, I think he twisted in his shoes and it's made him lame (I hope that's all it is), so I really wanted to get him done today. His shoes look off center.

I "think", (big on think:), my looney neighbor Beth is going to buy my English Saddle after all. But who knows for sure, the plan has been changing regularly for the last 2 weeks.

She called me 2 weeks ago and asked if I would hold it for 2 weeks and she would bring me half the money then in 2 weeks the other half. I keep the saddle till it's paid for.

Well she called me today and asked if I would take $100 a week till it was paid for. That's basically about the same deal as before so I said yes BUT, I needed to see the first $100 by this week or the saddle was going on E-bay. If she missed one payment, it was going on e-bay, and no refunds, no excuses, nothing less the $100 per week.

I'm suppose to have her first payment by Sat. If I don't get it I'm not talking to her about it any more.

Boy, he did take a chunk off... I sure hope they stay on.

Your ferns look healthy, even if they won't get real big this year, maybe they'll do better next year and beyond.

Heh... well, I hope she buys it, but you sound skeptical and probably with good reason.

That shoe looks real iffy about staying on doesn't it:(. Chris did the best he could. Just not much hoof wall there.

IMO, the right side of the fern looks better even tho the fronds aren't as long?? Not so spindly. I think it will get better every year too, IF it survives. That's how everything else works.

If that missing hoof is on the inside, I just think he's likely to step on the shoe with the other foot. Not the hind even, the front.

She's a loon deluxe, and I'm a sucker:). She's not paying anything (if at all) till next Sat. so she's suckered me into holding it "another" week:). But that's my fault, because I really don't want to go thru the hassle of E-bay and having to mail it, etc.

I think Beth just has trouble being disiplined with her money. She called me last Fri, and said she'd know for sure by Sun Night. Then told me she had been to Drysdales and bought some clothes that she shouldn't have, she should have given that money to me. She is going to have to know for sure that I mean it this time, I'm not playing games with her. I told her, one day late, one dollar short, the deals off, the saddle is still mine, and no refunds on any money.

That missing hoof is on the outside. But there is a little hanging out on the inside too. Not as much. That's why I'm keeping the bell boots on. I don't know if they will help, but it's worth a try.

Well, good. It was super risky if that visible shoe was on the inside. I'm more hopeful then! I think the bell boots will help, he may overcompensate because they're there to avoid stepping on them.

At least yours called! I had to find another one cause the one I use (lives right behind me) never has called after 3 weeks and 3 calls! Won't be bothering him anymore.

That's a crock about not letting any part of the boot go above the coronet band. They allow anything in AERC. Maybe the NATRC will loosen up in the near future.

About Harley's hoof, Wow, he did take out a hunk. Man, I hope it holds for 2 weeks coz it sure looks iffy. The other foot looks real good though. Good idea about the bell boots.

Your fern looks about like mine so I guess they're both doing reasonably well.

Does it really? I thought he would have been able to move it back farther, but Harley hadn't grown much since the last time. I really hope we are doing this right...

Yeah, the saddle on Grace is the Mennonite saddle. It fits her just fine. It's not as comfortable for me as my Ortho Flex though, so the jury's still out as to whether I'll keep it or not. I haven't tried it again on Bob. He's got 2 areas of white hairs now on his loins from that one time I rode him in it. And it's kinda weird because the white hairs aren't where the dry spot was, they're on his lower back, where he was ouchy when we got home. If it was later in the year when it was warmer and he was lighter I would have never known it, but roans always shed out fairly dark in the spring and lighten up as the summer warms up, so it's fairly visible right now. It's two crescent shaped areas, about as wide as my hand, one on either side of his spine. It really bummed me out. Hopefully they'll shed out like Bay's did when his coat changes in the fall.

What's annoying is that the appointment was tomorrow. They called Friday and asked if I could change it to today. Well, they left a message on my answering machine that I didn't get until 2:15 and said they will come in the morning at the time we had originally planned. grrrrrrr I had a million things to do today that I could have been doing, instead of waiting around on a shoer. I seriously considered cancelling the whole thing and letting my own shoer do the work. I'm going to let the racetrack shoer reset this last time, after that I'm getting my regular shoer. He's more dependable.

It's pretty darned close to where it needs to be. The guidelines say that the inside rim of the toe should be anywhere from 1/4 inch to 3/4 of an inch, depending on the size of the foot, and since I can't really get a good sense of how big his foot is from pictures, it's kinda hard to tell. I can show you a picture of Blade's shoes. He's got the Aluminum NBs on. I think he wears an ought (0) on the front...

Front hoof before/after...

I wish he would have called my cell phone. He called my home phone at the time he was supposed to be here. I was outside getting Tuffy ready and I missed the call. When they called Friday to change the appointment, they used my cell phone so I know they have it. He just didn't want to talk to me in person (and I don't blame him!)

Very seldom do they touch down and there is almost an imaginary line where they dissipate. You never know though. I got some really good pictures last night but I don't want to post them and have my husband see where I was,at 1 am in the morning, during a thunder storm:')
