I love your pictures and I'm so jealous that you have someone to ride with. Wish I did.

Wow it sounds like a great weekend. I started to go to that myself since it was so close. I can get to Murfreesboro in a couple of hours. I wish I had now. I like watching stuff like that. I think Dennis Reis is doing a weekend seminar in Huntsville (AL) sometime in March or April and I may try to go to that, just to see if he's as goofy in person as he is on TV. He has some good stuff too, so I'll just have to take the goofy with the good.

Speaking of George, how's he doing?
A guy on the farrier forum just posted that Bay might have Cushings. As if I wasn't worrying enough :~\

Well, I don't think you're the easter bunny! I look for signs of it in any old horse, but he's not walking around suffering from laminitis all this time. These people seem to gloss right over the fact that he hasn't taken a lame step in three years.

There's a lot of sound advice over there, but there's a lot of holyier-than-thou know-it-alls over there too who are just trying to make everybody think that they are they are the smartest, so it makes you doubt everything you read, even the good stuff.

George seems fine. His arthritis has been kicking up so I've been giving him Devils Claw. Worked like a charm. Didn't put a dent in Tuffy's pain.

Winnie is doing just fine, no problems at all from her neurectomy. Too bad my daughter never has time to ride.

This is just my personal opinion so take it for what it's worth. Bay is 23(?). He's not ready for the glue factory. From what you say, he's sound and willing, he looks great, and he spent a long while working hard as an endurance horse. With the amount and type of riding you do, I don't think you need to worry about him at all until you see signs of a problem. I wouldn't treat him with anything, except maybe give him a glucosamine supplement. I would take your shoer's advice on how to shoe him until/unless that proves wrong, and your vet's advice on how to feed him until/unless that proves wrong. He's a good horse, with God willing, a lot of years left yet. We just sold two geldings, 25 and 26yrs old, both sound and healthy, good for light riding (only because they've been standing around for 5-6 years, not because of problems). They are both barefoot and on hay and will stay that way until increased exercise necessitates shoes and/or grain.
Okay, this was my opinion only (ducking now).

Thanks Duchess! Sometimes I catch myself in full blown worry mode about nothing :~D
Someday I'll have a problem, and it makes me crazy not knowing what kind or when I'll see signs of it.

Julia's fun to ride with:). I like having someone to ride with, I like riding by myself too tho. She had fun taking pictures:), altho I just finished deleting about 4 of the back of her horses neck:). I guess she never has used a camera, she said people always take her picture but she never takes them herself. Anyway, going thru them just now I came across one I over looked earlier that's a pretty good one. This hill we are going down here is a really good climb up. We went up it earlier and the horses were really puffing by the time we got to the top. Where I'm at in this picture is were I rolled off Belle the time I've told about when she was pregnant and I'd taken the back cinch off. She bent down and I guess since she was already at such a steep angle the back of the saddle came up and I just rolled off. It had to be very funny, she just stood there and looked at me while I laid they dieing of laughter.

I cannot believe this weather!!! It is so stuffy and warm here tonight. I just went out to feed in a T Shirt, no coat. It's Feb. for heavens sake. Tomorrow 87. We also have some chances of rain this weekend....cross your fingers.
