Papa, been there, I had to put my closest friend down 8 years ago. I still think of him, and miss him. I bet Brandy and Duke are having a hell of a good time right now though.
Damn. Ain't nothing tougher, than losing a dog.
lrenh is a sequence of letters from my name that I use for e-mail addresses such as lrenh@four11.com (My first e-mail account. Yahoo long ago tossed it into the bit bucket). Fortyfied is a blogging handle I first created on glocktalk.com some years back that I now use where ever I setup an account. I've been folding with no team since I left SETI. FAH assigned me a team name of junkteam14042. I'm glad to have found a reason to leave it behind...

Out of curiosity, and without going into too much background, can you tell us where most of your CPUs come from? Perhaps a small business owner? An IT geek and you control the desktops? Or perhaps a student lab tech? Or you just happen to have a gaggle of old 'puters laying around!
How about we all change over to their team for one wu, and use names like "The_Swimmer", "HillarysLovelyLegs", "Beelzebubba", "Arkanside", "Dumacrats", "CommieDemocratProgressive", etc.
I know, why waste the effort. :-)
PS, bless your heart. What a beautiful animal to have blessed your life for so many years.
We have acquired 3 bassets over the last 2 years. Every day I look at their silly faces and wonder what I am going to do when they are gone. It is going to be heartbreaking.
We had guinea pigs & hamsters before this. I couldn't talk to people when I lost one of them. The dogs are so much more into our lives.
I am going to pass 20,000 this weekend, WOOHOO!!!!
2 million points, and #129 on the users list, is pretty impressive.
How long have you been folding?
Anyway, it's great to have you aboard. Teams are always more fun, especially one as active, and engaged, as the freeper folders. Since I discovered this back just before Christmas, I've never had so much fun, or been as active on-line.
Thanks for the kind words, fellas.
Congrats on reaching all the milestones, I know 20k was a big one for me and 500k is way beyond my capabilities, I can't even imagine it!
:O)
P
I only have one CPU but I am still in the top 50 thanks to persistence
After a week or two of moving slowly up the ranks we seem to be encountering a "cluster" of other teams. It looks like we should pass 16 teams in the next 3 days.
Bump.
I joined last Sunday. Since I have an older computer, I chose the "No Deadlines" option. Running Folding approximately 18 hours a day, my first "Protein" has reached 17.75%.
With my slow computer, is this slow progress normal? I have cable modem, do I need to leave my browser open for Folding@Home to work? Just call me Mo for short.
What's your processor brand and speed and what type of core are you running? You can open your log file to see what core it is. Tinkers and Amber cores seem to go slowly, but Gromacs are faster. If you're not sure how to open the log you can just tell us the project number.
Do you have anything else running in the background (virus scanner, software firewall, spyware detector. . .)?
The program only needs to connect to the internet to download a project and to upload the final results. In between you can leave your computer offline.
We need to throw a salute to "junkteam14042" as we go by since it's only member is now folding for us. (FReeper Fortyfied folding as lrenh.)
It must be a really nice one. I have recently added a 3rd CPU and am finally climbing my way out of the 120's. At this rate of production I will break into the top 100 in about 30 days and will settle into the 70s.
