I don't know if I can get passed the ridiculous way they made her look to spend movie money on.
I have read on the site Libertas that Hollywood is now flooded with gay-themed scripts.
It doesn't matter that Brokeback is not a money-maker. There is plenty to be made by scriptwriters and agents from payments from the film industry's deep pockets.
They don't care if a film is popular or not. So, although I hope for films like these, I don't see a lot of scripts being offered on these subjects. I hope I'm wrong.
Family movie ping
Take the kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews...
I'll buy this movie for all my grandkids. I can't wait to see it myself. At last--a movie one can just enjoy and not worry about!

Emma Thompson is an excellent actress...
No matter what her leftist politics are!

If Colin Firth is in it, my daughters will see it at least twice!
They make her look ugly initially, and through the movie she is gradually transformed into being attractive in the eyes of the children and Mr. Brown as they come to love her.
We're going to go and take the kids. I'm always whining about the lack of decent movies for families, and I see this as an opportunity support one. With the recent success of Chronicles, hopefully someone will get a message about what the flyover folks are looking for in a movie for their families.
I love colin firth!!!!!!!!
Even if a film loses money in domestic release, the film industry makes megabucks releasing the film to international markets that are enamored of US films.
She is an excellent actress and writer. Her version of Sense and Sensibilities is one of my all-time favorite movies.
Yes, but I have also read that European film attendance is drastically down, even more than here in the US
>It doesn't matter that Brokeback is not a money-maker.<
Unfortunately, it is and has been for weeks. Its budget was around $16M.
As for Nanny McPhee, I saw it with my two daughters yesterday. Enertaining, but no masterpiece.
Her character looks like Hillary.
Plus, she is a striking lovely woman.
Kenneth Branagh is an ass for leaving her.
Well, she ain't as good looking as me when I get dolled up!
Bender, if Emma really looked like Nanny McPhee, I'd take her over you...
I agree with your daughters.
I want to see it for Colin Firth....the movie looks almost as cute as he does!
"I don't know if I can get passed the ridiculous way they made her look..."
That's what hubby said, he found the makeup repulsive, and there's not too many things he feels that way about.
I'll be back to read this piece later.
