Wish I couldget out of mine for $147. He got the deal of the century!

A friend of mine was out hunting when his wife of 24 years (28 year relationship) called him on his cell phone to say she was divorcing him. She told her 19 year-old daughter she was leaving her dad over the phone too.
The topper is that here in WA state - even though she is leaving him for another man whom she has been having an affair with - she still gets half of my friends stuff. No consequences for her actions, no loss for her leaving the marriage.

Ah well, newlyweds always think it's gonna be unlimited night and weekend minutes forever... then the roaming charges start to mount.

Ah well, newlyweds always think it's gonna be unlimited night and weekend minutes forever... then the roaming charges start to mount. Then after a couple of years there's the constant temptation of competing calling plans.

Not to take sides here, and I do feel sorry for your friend, but do you think the marriage was over long before the actual cell phone call? After a 28 year relationship, you'd think they would be communicating a little better? And the cell phone call to the daughter? Could it be she lived out of town or was away at college? It's hard to make a judgement out of so few facts.
The no fault divorce laws with community property in WA sounds bad, but it also eliminates extortionist lawyer fees and incriminating and disgracing each spouse in a court of law.
While I agree, to capriciously end a marriage is wrong, it's not up to us to judge their situation. It's between them and God, imho.

Truly both funny and tragic all at once.

Taking it literally is tragic, but the analogy is still pretty funny.

Yeah, but wouldn't you have to do a little dance and turn around three times or something? Can you dance?
