My wife and I watch it every Monday night. We usually end up yelling at the TV. There would have been a good drinking game associated with them talking about NOT having sex. It was a harmless show, a little preachy. I have no idea why it lasted ten years.

Either ABC or Showtime will pick it up.
Hopefully.

The show has just been awful for the past several years and is in dire need of being cancelled. It long ago lost it's direction and became little more than another hour of dreck occupying a time slot in "the great wasteland". I used to watch it and like it, then it started going downhill. Redoing the cliche "birth in the elevator" was probably the low point.
I also didn't like they way they portrayed the military giving a death notice to a character. It would never have been done they way they did it, leaving a grieving family member alone.

Being replaced by the new series:
"Brokeback Mountain - The Saga Continues".

"...all I could get were the networks-ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, Fox, PAX, and the WB."
Sounds like you were spoiled (haha). I grew up with three channels: ABC, NBC, and CBS. I remember when FOX came out - thinking how radical a fourth network was. I was also raised on 26 original NFL teams, and the Panther and Seahawk logos still look unusual to me. At least the Bucs ditched their fruity dude and fancy colors.

Growing up we had it all and were the first people in the country to have HBO.
But to say spoiled, no. Spoiled would imply that someone else was paying my bills during my dark ages. It was a simple case of not enough money to cover all my expenses. Something had to give or go. Cable it was for about 8 months.
When I got that line hooked back up, I think I watched 36 hours straight discovery channel.

I used to watch it and like it, then it started going downhill. Redoing the cliche "birth in the elevator" was probably the low point. It was a nice family show when the kids were young, but then as they grew up, they had too many PROBLEMS. When my daughter was young, we watched it together. I used to laugh about the mother having so many mood swings.

Dittoes here. About the time that Jessica Biel decided that she wanted out of her contract so she could play the "bad girl" was pretty much what did it for me. The gym destruction scene her character was involved in was so out of character as to be a completely different show. When the Rev. got tossed out of his own church and started doing a radio show or something was about my limit for the level of crap they dished out. My wife tried to watch it for awhile after that, but even she couldn't stomach it anymore.

The WB is now no more....will combine with UPN next fall. Heaven help us.
If they can Smallville, I will be incredibly pissed.

I can even remember when Fox came out, I was about 9 (1986). It was weird to us then, too.
