"Shortly after the game, Morelli said: "I had the defender catching the ball. Before he got up, he hit it with his leg with his other leg still on the ground. Therefore, he did not complete the catch. And then he lost the ball. It came out, and so we made the play an incomplete pass."" ----

With minds like this ..........

BTW, Palmer was not your savior . One man does not make a team.

He will be. Carson is VERY good.

"He had one knee and a head of hair down .... Interception" ----

*****

You know that I am going to do my best to make that comment of yours famous, don't you? At least here in the 'Burgh.

I've passed it along to over a dozen radio and TV guys and another dozen or so in the papers and magazines.

Your words may be famous, especially if the Steelers go on to win the Super Bowl.

In a little while (after 6:00), I'm going to try to get through to Ellis Cannon to tell him that one on the air. That is so damn funny ........ especially now that the league has come out with the official statement that the referee was wrong to overturn the interception.

But they very well could have been defeated with a 17-14 at the half with a healthy Palmer playing instead of "crazy legs" kitna.

Any relation to Crazy Legs Hirsh?

Yes, but they said that since there was a penalty on the play it didn't matter. I think that is what I heard.

By the way, Payton is getting ripped for his side-of-the mouth postgame comments about his poor protection. They are pretty much ripping him on ESPN all day. If he would have just been direct with what he had to say it would have been cool......but he wasn't.

And don't get me started on all their conflicting end zone/OB/ball position rules .... all you see now are guys launching themselves from the 5 and ending up out of bounds past the goal line being called TD's -- remember why the score was named a TOUCHDOWN?

I am for the runner or any ball carrier to have to get his body into the end zone myself.

Wrong game. The Chicago one is what you're thinking of, and because the penalty was unsportsmanlike conduct on the defense, the ensuing kickoff would have been from the 45 had the touchdown incorrectly stood.

Well, it's a good thing we weren't referring to the NFL's SCROTUS -- they certainly didn't have any balls. :-)

Humble thanks for the kudos, but if it gets around to my buds in Buffalo that I've even appeared to praise a Pittsburgh player, I could be in deep do-do ;)

(OK, you got me started ;)

Instead of the goal line "going around the world", the goal line pylons should reach up indefinitely into space. The ball IN POSSESSION should need to cross the goal line inside the pylon, not just some body part. You don't get points for kicking a field goal wide right (or way wide for that matter -- ask Vanderjagt!)

Also, why is an offensive fumble (no possession) that crosses the goal line a touchback, yet a punt in the air over the end zone can be "scooped back" and downed in the field of play? One of many NFL boundary rules that are so inconsistent...

Let's face it, if this had been the offensive receiver that did this, of course it would have been a reception, no questions asked.

Apparently only if that receiver had a blue jersey on yesterday afternoon! /sarcasm
