OK - well, I'll just leave you to grieve it. I'm tired of this thread.
Good day to you.

Yep, you failed.
Sorry hun,
but I'd rather see a world with healthy, self-confident size 14's that deal with one more "I hate myself!" size 2.
The two extremes in body types are tied together. With the healthy 'norm' so narrow that a fraction of the human population can attain it without drastic measures. And check out the threads with boney girls being called hot and girls with very normal hips being called fat.
I often wonder how badly I'd be treated if some of you saw me in real life, with my short legs and birthin' hips. :)

Ah, come on, give Max some credit. :-)
Stick thin isn't beautiful, and I can't stand people who give their children eating disorders, either. People get so sensitive about this. They refuse to admit that people are fighting obesity for good reasons, and insist that it's "all about looks". That's like saying an anti-smoking campaign is just "all about smell".

I understand.
There is a similar thread going on in a literary forum, where readers are complaining that a very prolific author only writes with one size/body type of female. And it's to the point its a pain in the butt. Personally, I've seen her characters get smaller and smaller to the point they're almost childlike in dimensions.
Secondly, I'm just tired of seeing people trashed for how they look. Very tired of it. Fed up. Often when they are good productive, brilliant people and otherwise healthy. But it's like if you're overweight by anyone's standards, you deserve contempt. Again, I've seen healthy looking, attractive folks called fat cows and all I could think is "Who are they looking at?!?!"
Lastly, as a jack of all trades in my profession, I've dealt with lots of overweight kids, including diabetes education. I've also dealt with just as many normal, healthy, slightly pudgy teenagers who start all kinds of drastic behaviors to loose weight. Why do these kids do it? Because they've been trained that their value is in their looks. Nothing else they do matters if they look 'fat'.
Which wreaks havoc with their metabolisms and sets them on a path of struggling with their weights their entire lives. So I'd like to see a slightly larger body type 'ideal' in our culture. (no pun intended) That's all.

This isn't about adults choosing for themselves The baby's path in life is already laid out by her parent's choices. I just think it's sad. Maybe we should just euthanize the infant. After all, his (her?) life is set in stone, right?

I was only 8 pounds and change, but the doctor was using a split bamboo fly rod with 4 pound test, so I made it into the recod books anyway.I got you beat. I was only 5 pounds 3 ounces.

My brother was 11.5 pounds. He's now 5-11 and regular weight. I was 6 pounds. My mom was 5-2 and weighed around 110.
And the babies parents were large. The father was overweight and the mother was probably obese.

It breaks my heart too. Not only will these kids face a lot of ostracism growing up, they will also have enormous health problems, like adult diabetes before they're out of high school. I also wonder WTF their parents are thinking letting these children get so obese. But most of the time, if you see the parents with these kids, the parents are also very heavy. One wonders if the parents know any better, if they ever learned to cook real food, if they know anything about nutrition. It's hard to believe some people could remain so ignorant, especially with us being in the information age, but it is the case for some people. I don't think it's so much ignorance but rather a lack of motivation. A poor single mom could go to the local public library, use the internet, and find a healthy recipe for, say, a roast chicken with vegetables and make that for her kids instead of getting fried chicken and french fries from the corner deli, but such an action takes motivation and effort. Sadly a not insignificant subset of our population has little motivation and effort and would rather wait around for the government to take care of all their problems.
By the way, very impressive that you ended up thinner post-pregnancy! What is your secret?

I'm a male and I naturally can't get out of the norm. I do run a lot but I couldn't gain or lose weight if I tried. I even spend the majority of my time just sitting around. I geuss it might have a lot of genetics involved.

My secret? I think I've just gotten to the point where I prefer stuff like brown rice, veggies, and oatmeal to anything else. It didn't happen overnight, but I finally, truly enjoy whole foods. I think that's it. That, and the fact that I must burn a zillion calories a day chasing after all the kids!
