I want to see Narnia but I was waiting until after the Christmas rush to go. Maybe I'll go sometime this week if it's not that crowded.

According to RottenTomatoes.com which captures all the critics reviews, Fudgepack Mountain got a thumbs up from 87% of the 99 North American film reviewers whose opinions matter most.
Of course, giving a thumbs up to such a film is a virtual requirement to maintain ones standing as being on the cutting edge of liberal elitist group think. I find it amazing how these self described intellectual "free spirits" all think alike when it comes to issues such as homosexuality, abortion and pornography. They are tiresomely predictable in their views on certain social issues.
While they will rave on about and recommend this film, they won't dare give it an Oscar.
First of all, it won't have the box office numbers to warrant any artistic achievement recognition and secondly, to stink up the Oscars with this blatant propaganda piece will only sink Hollywood deeper into the recession it's already undergoing and force the moguls to face up to the unpleasant fact that it just isn't the price of popcorn that's keeping the public away from the theaters in increasing numbers.

Speilberg's "Munich" is the movie I am saving my pennies to see. It will be released on December 23rd.

Yes, but imagine having to clean all those theater seats...

Regardless of the merits of this movie, the notion that 11k/screen is a bad showing is just ludicrous. That's an exceptionally high number - far higher than anything else in theaters today.
Put me down with the "Live and let live" crowd. The existence of that movie, and whether it succeeds or fails, doesn't affect me one whit.

I bet it wins all Oscars for this year. Wanna bet? The prev's in Hollywood will be in line wanting to vote this pile of trash as this years best film.

I'm afraid you don't understand how to read the boxofficemojo statistics. The movie has had the highest per screen returns of any film this year. In fact I'm surprised that the per screen result remain basically the same from Thursday to Friday when they expanded from 8 screens to 70. That translates into mostly sold out shows.
A month from now you might be correct, it may take a precipitous hit in audience volume and only take in a modest profit. But with a budget of only 12 million it's not going to lose money.
The producers of King Kong on the other hand, should be worried.

When a movie opens on only 69 of the nation's largest theaters in a few dozen of the largest cities, with almost all of your target audience within range of those theaters, it's pretty bad.
"69 of the nation's largest theaters . . ." LOL.

Regarding "Narnia" I would say it's possible those with home theaters are waiting for the DVD. Regarding "Brokeback" ...well, I don't know.
Down for the count?

Trouble with Brokeback mountain is it's the same tired old story. How many times do we need to see a movie about a couple of cowboys who go off to the mountains every once in a while and have gay sex? I for one am tired of it.

What's the theme song in this movie?
Take a Walk on the Wild Side? Lola? Y.M.C.A. by the Village People? Or something by Sylvester? Wait, wait, I know:

They are surprised that people are not interested in this movie??? It's the Christmas season! And they expect people to flock to a movie about two men, whose lives are based on lies, and to feel compassion for them? Well Hollyweird truly is!

Peter Jackson learns the right things from the experience; he is very talented, very passionate, and, from the messages of his movies, very decent.
Then you clearly haven't seen all of his movies.
Check out
Bad Taste or
Meet The Feebles.
Peter Jackson's early career as an idie filmmaker revolved around making the most offensive low budget movies he could. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
