There certainly are angels. Whether we are each assigned one, I'm not so sure. It's nice to think we are.

A marriage between an angel and a devil, apparently. ;o)

If one believes the Holy Bible to be the inspired word of God then the existence of angels is a foregone conclusion.

Angels

I agree that Angels are very real. It's the personal guardian angels I'm not sure about. Though I'm inclined towards believing in the Clarences of the world taking the George Bailey's under their wings, at times. ;o)

At the link above there's a section on guardian angels. The Psalm they provide isn't, in my opinion, acknowledging that each and every human has a 'personal' angel.

Angels do take human form at times. Whether they do so to help out an individual in a crisis I can't be sure. Rememeber, we're given a free will, and there would be a very fine line between that will and it's consequences and divine intervention to prevent us from making mistakes.

This Scripture seems to imply that children have personal angels, “their angels,” that sit very close to God.

This concept isn't going to go over well with the Original Sin crowd. ;)

Well God can certainly have angels appear in many forms, if He so chooses. And yes, correcting/preventing all of our mistakes is certainly not job one for them.

I either have a guardian angel or I'm incredibly lucky.

Correct. If that were so then this human stage in our existence wouldn't be necessary. There would be no Hitlers, no famines, no crimes, etc.
Lucifer and his auxiliary wouldn't have been permitted to exist if not for a reason.
I think of our human stage as a process of character building to prepare us for the next step.

You may be correct. But I also look at the human stage as an incredible, sacred gift. And the world we occupy as nothing short of God's fantastic handiwork.
