(Isn't their guitarist, that Hughie guy, with whatever Skynyrd incarnation exists now?)
Their guitarist? Heck, IIRC they had three. Anyway Yes.
Now, be honest. When did you start hating Freebird & Stairway -- the first time you heard them or the 500th time you heard them?

Truth be told, I don't recall hating on Skynyrd until my dumbass first fiance made me observe the respectful five seconds of silence at the end of "Free Bird."
Before then, I was a normal redneck girl whose musical education included Skynyrd. After that, I became a rabid anti-Skynyrdite.

"Really? I've been listening to that song for 30 years and I never had a clue what they were singing about. I guess I've been corrupted for three decades and never knew it."
Wikipedia
Walk This Way
"Walk This Way" is the name of a song by the American rock group Aerosmith from their album Toys in the Attic (1975). It was one of their biggest hits, and was a hit again when redone with rappers Run DMC on their Raising Hell (1986) album. The song title was inspired from a line in the movie Young Frankenstein when the character Igor spoke the line. The lyrics, written by Steven Tyler are about a high schooler having sexual intercourse for the first time and engaging in group sex.
Now I ask you...is this appropriate music for a department store?

I Know it's Only Rock and Roll but I Hate it. For someone who claims to neither like nor know much about rock, you came up with a pretty inventive thread title (riffing off the 1974 Rolling Stones hit).

"Jeeesh---I'm an oldie and I like rock music----makes me shop faster."
Yeah I think that's the idea behind playing the rock music. However studies show that if you play slow music people stay in the store longer. If you play classical music it makes people feel smarter and more sophisticated so they stay in the store longer and buy more expensive things.
My guess is if you are waiting in the check out line for a long time and you want the line to go faster because the rock music is speeding you up internally, then the rock music is irritating.

Did the Rolling Stones sing that? Would have never known if you had not said so.
