Golly!
I just realized its been over 20 years since I read those books. They were fun reads, but not re-reads.
However, the Gabaldon Outlander series is a annual re-read for me.

In my Jr. High, it was John Jakes' historical fiction. The Bastard, anyone?
To: najida
Doesn't your minds eye have a great mental picture of Jamie?? I hope they don't make a movie out of it, Hollyweird would probably choose Ben Affleck or some other metro and ruin it. I've read the first three(?) in that series, they're pretty hot.

I've seen a few guys (non-Hollywood types) that would make a great Jamie. One in particular had friends howling, but when I explained the commonalities, they got it (good ole country boy, strong values, young face and easy blusher ;) )
Jamie's probably my absolute favorite male character, ever. And the books are classics, to me...and way better than that boring, dry, 'serious' literature that you're forced to read in college.
ACK!

Hi Millee:
The highlight was putting up the "holiday tree," to give you an idea of all the excitement around here. Oh to be 70 again. . .

You two are probably WAY ahead of me on this, but I just found out last week that the latest Claire-and-Jamie is out! Bought it . . . am
dying to read it . . . but am making myself re-read the series so everything is in its proper place in my head!

I saw it on the shelves too....and I ALMOST bought it, but I need to save for C'mas. And often there are used ones on Amazon too (OK, so I'm cheap when it comes to books).
And yeah, I like your idea of re-reading the series so the stories and characters are fresh.

Men prefer descriptions (pictures, etc...) of the act, in general. Women, being more cultured (and holding the keys to the city, so to speak), seem to prefer written descriptions of the lead-up to the act. Just my $.02. Physiologically, men are more prone to be stimulated by visual images, while women react better to sounds or language.
