Yes, I heard about this on the radio tonight and told a co-worker it did remind me of that classic WKRP in Cincinnati episode.
---“It's a helicopter, and it's coming this way. It's flying something behind it, I can't quite make it out, it's a large banner and it says, uh - Happy... Thaaaaanksss... giving! ... From ... W ... K ... R... P!! No parachutes yet. Can't be skydivers... I can't tell just yet what they are, but - Oh my God, Johnny, they're turkeys!! Johnny, can you get this? Oh, they're plunging to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! Oh, the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! Not since the Hindenberg tragedy has there been anything like this!”
One of my husband's friends was on the turnpike when this happened. She was driving along like any other day when suddenly she came across a flock of live chickens on the road. Chickens were everywhere, she said, some were dead but others were still alive and jumped on her car. She was delayed for quite awhile due to the accident and was very late for work. When she got to work she apologized for being late and explained what had happened. No one believed her and everyone thought she was either making up a story because she overslept or that she was high. All day long her co-workers would cluck when they walked past her desk to mock her silly story. Vindication came later that evening when the chicken accident made the local news.
