This goes a long way to filling the void in my life since "Babylon 5" ended.

Babylon 5 was only interesting to me 'cause a lot of girls I knew at the time were into it. It's pretty difficult to find chicks who are into any sci-fi shows at all.

...and I had a thing for that redheaded telepathic chick. Wow-wee.

Yeah, I think it was too expensive, but I imagine the ratings slumped not too long after they started doing stupid things like making Muffit a regular on the show.

Also there was a goofy guidline by the FCC that there was family hour meaning the show had to be family friendly. They did bring back Galatica in 1980 (Called Galatica 1980), horrible. As for V it started out good with the first miniseries. Second one was ok. The tv show ok, however, it seemed that there was a cost cutting measure.. It proves that sci-fi and regular networks don't mix...

Babylon 5 you just couldn't pick up. It was as densely plotted as a soap opera so to get into it you had to have someone explain all the characters and secrets and interrelationships. A casual remark in season 2 could return with gale force in season 3.

I admired about it that unlike Star Trek...
1. Humans are no better in the Babylon 5 future than the are now. Poor people still eat out of garbage cans. Not the socialist, secular utopia of Star Trek. You have organizations like Home Guard (an anti alien KKK) and Night Watch and murderous tyrants like President Clark.
2. Every human state I ever heard of had a resource conflict between localism and the central government. The civil war that breaks out in the Earth Alliance is President Clark's extreme Empire of Earth policy towards the colonies.

Star Trek was to neat and setrile (except TOS).
Babylon 5 was not neat and setrile. There was still wars, not everyone got along.

B5 is the best and most well crafted SF program ever. My only lament is that they replaced Johnathan Sinclair, the first commander, after season one. I liked him a lot, though I liked John Sheridan a lot, too.

Deep Space 9 went the furthest from neat and sterile. It stole heavily in theme from Babylon 5. The war with the Dominion, the conspiracy of the shape shifters (the Shadows ?), the quasi civil war between the Federation and the Maquis.

Pouring over the "Serenity" boards over at the IMDB doesn't look good for that happening. There were supposed to be two more big screen sequels if the movie did well at the box office, but it didn't. That would also open the door for a small screen return. Doesn't look like that will happen either. I bought the "Firefly" DVD set and saw the movie "Serenity". I will buy it as soon as the movie hits DVD, something I rarely do.

This show needs at least 5 seasons. It's fairly slow moving, but so far that's been an asset.

I'm not sure if it should go on for more than 5 though.

The first three seasons of Babylon 5 were great; then came the 4th and 5th seasons. Yeesh.
