"Andy Griffith was originally cast as the funny guy."

Oh, yeah, Andy Griffith's early humor is still hilarious.

There are too many brainless idiots posting on FR these days to even wonder about that.

This from a guy who joined us in January.

And I notice you've spent plenty of time composing responses on this thread. Why aren't you out there worrying about the Queen of Britain, and Howard Dean, John Edwards, Iraq and so on?

"The writers of Gleason were geniuses,IMO.Don't know if Gleason was one of them."

There's some interesting material on the DVDs.

"You're right, but never has the " underlying worldview being immoral" been so damn funny." --------------- Yeah, that's what the Catholic baptismal vows call "the glamor of evil."

Almost correct.

Remember, dsc, ............ "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing."

Be careful, you may hurt yourself. I kid you just a little, but righteousness should be saved for the righteous.

Gleason was good, but Norton and Alice were the real stars of that show.I'm not sure if it's because they had the most talent or because they were given the best lines. The writers of Gleason were geniuses,IMO. Don't know if Gleason was one of them.

I do!

Brad Garrett from "Everybody Loves Raymond" was just in a made for tv movie about Jackie Gleason.

Brad WAS BRILLIANT, and you will learn quite a lot about Jackie Gleason.

He WAS a genius!!!!

p.s. yes, I loved Art Carney and Audrey Meadows in the show. It was just nearly a perfect show!

........... And away we go!

Red Dwarf definitely needs to be on the list!

Red Dwarf is more a comedy drama. And iffen you're going to include those, I'm going to insist on adding Minder and Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I don't really see what you're driving at, but I think what I said is correct.

Yeah, that's what the Catholic baptismal vows call "the glamor of evil."

You used the phrase "the glamor of evil" with respect to the Seinfeld show. That's just a severe exaggeration.

Save that serious designation for something else a little MORE EVIL ............. like Eleanor Clift or Ellen Ratner!

;-)

IMNSHO, presenting sexual immorality as acceptible, or even preferable, qualifies as evil. Not to mention the other things.

So, you don't think that presenting sexual immorality as acceptible, or even preferable, qualifies as evil?

Instead of me lightening up, I'd say you need to butch up.

Ummm... we are talking about Seinfeld, right? I think there are much worse 'evils' in the world.

"we are talking about Seinfeld, right? I think there are much worse 'evils' in the world."

Okay. So does the existence of greater evils mean that lesser evils are not evils?

And is not the sexual immorality of Seinfeld one more brick in the Berlin wall of sexual immorality that is our entertainment media?

I'm living in Thailand. I will take Seinfeld anyway I can get it. If that is sexual immorality, please export more of it.

There was one featuring Ma and Pa Kettle I used to listen to......

We didn't get that show on the radio in my area back then.....
I guess I really missed something too.....
I sure remember the Ma & Pa Kettle movies very well though. Funny stuff.
