Well, I'm afraid "Tibbet's Dream" came a little late to the party.

It would have been nice to be able to refer to the old girl as "the Dream", would it not?

"back in a bit - Full Metal Alchemist is on"

Web Results 1 - 10 of about 3,550,000 for "Full Metal Alchemist". (0.09 seconds)

I'm either ignoring too many things, or not enough.

I didn't either.

It seems to be something in Anime.

I gues I'll wrap things up. Good Night, Dr. Tulip.

We had thunderstorms roll through, so I shut down the computer. I did manage to finish my lesson plans for Wednesday.

Good night, Bob.

Full Metal Alchemist is a recent Japanese animated cartoon series, now being broadcast on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

It is well-drawn, well-plotted, well-imagined, and has both its light and (extremely) dark moments.

The two main protagonist characters are the young brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric.

When quite young, their mother died.
They made the mistake of trying to bring her back through Alchemy.
It cost Alphonse his entire body and literally cost Edward an arm and a leg.
Thereafter, they have been on a quest to find the Philosopher's Stone, the mythical (perhaps) amplifier which will transcend the Alchemical principle of "equivalent exchange" and allow them to regain their bodies.
The series chronicles their adventures and often horrifically painful/costly learning experiences on this quest, set against (and interweaving with) a background "larger story" of sporadic civil war, government corruption, and the secret war of the Homunculi.

It is GOOD STUFF

Hmm. There's something to be said for calling the old girl "The Asylum," too.

"Okay, that's enough of messing with this asteroid. Let's get back to the Asylum."

Has a ring to it.

walp...
I have profiled and installed the nock-blanks on the tips of the core.
I'll see about prebending the core this afternoon sometime... probably will soak the core briefly in order to soften up the poplar, then use my clothing iron (through a wet towel) to sorta use steam-assist a bit to ease the strain when I use those ratchet-straps.

by the way: this project has reached the "I'm [expletive] sick of this" point. of course, this might just be a mood thing, rather than actual project-fatigue. probably is mood.

"asylum" is weak - those on the run seek asylum... the weak seek asylum... THOSE WE SHALL SUBJUGATE AND EXPLOIT SHALL SEEK ASYLUM - IN VAIN

I'm good with UTS Astral Asylum. Captures the meme of the place rather well...

But there is another meaning of asylum, a place where certain elements must be kept to protect the body of society as a whole.

that is a bastard derivative of the original meaning.

Nuthouses were dubbed "Insane Asylums" in a fit of prissy pseudo-christian euphemistic idiocy, giving a pretty name and a conscience-soothing mythology (the insane now have places of refuge from the trials of the world) to places for the permanent storage of undesirables.

I vote against "Asylum"
In its valid application, it is weak.
In its eupemistic application, it is a grotesque lie.
But then... I'm cranky this morning, so don't pay too much attention.
