There was a letter to "Dear Abby" or one of her ilk a couple of years ago about these. A woman was dating a guy who seemed very bothered by the fact her dog had been neutered. For Christmas, he bought her a pair of these. The woman laughed it off as a gag, but then the guy got upset and said he'd spent a lot of money on them.
Abby's advice was that the guy clearly had some issues and she should probably get the heck away from him.
