This statement doesn't make sense. I see one very dead snake. A snake that bursts while eating alligators is no threat to alligators.

Your statement doesn't make sense. The quote you were refering to talking about 'a host of other animal species'. Not just alligators and many other these other species aren't quite the match for a python an alligator is.
