Didn't Cobra Commander and Destro already try this with the Weather Dominator?

Well, I do like the idea that we can make their penises shrivel up and disappear.

Oh, so you are hurling The Prince through cyber-space to educate me about Machiavellian intrigue and political subterfuge. And talking about the 'many mistakes' in my reasoning. And this is from the person who is talking about a generator, which could be anywhere in the world as long as it is able to 'focus on western Africa,' controlling a hurricane. And that there are 'a variety of possibilities' for that happening. Well, since you have been so kind to recommend The Prince (even though I have it), let me return the favor and recommend a quick fact check on hurricanes. Then you'd realize that they pack so much power that the idea of some 'generator' controlling such a weather system, even with the variety of possibilities you claim to have, is not just ridiculous but outright asinine.

Oh, and as for The Prince. The key there was the use of presence and persuasion, to garner power in the court and realm. The way of intrigue and manipulation. Now, when a nation has the ability to have a 'generator' that can spawn and control hurricanes with the flick of a switch means they have access to amazing energy sources. Sources that only exist in theoretical physics (and the odd sci-fi movie). Meaning that they are amazingly (and this cannot be over-emphasized) developed in comparison to the rest of the world. Particularly if we are talking about hurricane genesis and control. They would not need to crack open a copy of The Prince since they would never need to be subtle. They would just outright colonize the United States since their tech level would be above anything we could come up with against them. Oh, and it would be colonization in every meaning of the word.

But hey, maybe they have 'a variety of possibilities' that would make them rather focus hurricane-genesis engines on West Africa, to create weather systems that would turn into hurricanes in the Atlantic, and then focus hurricane-control devices that would steer the tempest into the Gulf of Mexico, and then slam it right up the gulf coast. Hey, that makes a lot of sense.

Get some sleep. Siberia will be a beautiful tropical paradise by sunrise and you'll want to be rested before you book your vacation.

This was prophesied 40 years ago in the cartoon series Underdog.

Weathering the Storm (1965)

"Simon Bar Sinister is trying out his latest evil invention, the weather making machine. This dangerous device creates artificial storms and other natural disasters which Simon hopes to use for his own plans of world conquest.

But it is not without faults; the weather machine's powers are uncontrollable near itself... that is, Simon's Lab. Cad comes up with an idea: why not use the machine from another spot not on the Earth.

Intrigued by this idea and the fact that Polly and two astronauts are heading for a moon expedition, Simon and Cad head for Cape Canaveral and take over the spaceship and capture Polly. The trio head for the moon with Simon's diabolical weather machine."

"..with my Weather Machine, I can take over the WORLD!"

Lovely! Investing so much energy. Mentioning 'theoretical physics' time and again like someone debating an episode of Star Trek married together with an American comic book vision of how a nation state would exercise power. And as to The Prince whose meaning you mangled, let others reflect upon this:
And although Swiss and Spanish infantry may be considered very formidable, nevertheless there is a defect in both, by reason of which a third order would not only be able to oppose them, but might be relied upon to overthrow them. For the Spaniards cannot resist cavalry, and the Switzers are afraid of infantry whenever they encounter them in close combat. Owing to this, as has been and may again be seen, the Spaniards are unable to resist French cavalry, and the Switzers are overthrown by infantry. And although a complete proof of this latter cannot be shown, nevertheless there was some evidence of it at the battle of Ravenna, when the Spanish infantry were confronted by German battalions, who follow the same tactics as the Swiss; when the Spaniards, by agility of body and with the aid of their shields, got in under the pikes of the Germans and stood out of danger, able to attack, while the Germans stood helpless, and, if the cavalry had not dashed up, all would have been over with them. It is possible, therefore, knowing the defects of both these infantries, to invent a new one, which will resist cavalry and not be afraid of infantry; this need not create a new order of arms, but a variation upon the old. And these are the kind of improvements which confer reputation and power upon a new prince.

Hoagland is on! Last year's hurricanes must really be a test case since 'we' (Russians) have the technology to make and stir hurricanes! But only the 'crazies' (Hoagland admits it! Sort of) have been looking at the data that proves it.

This was done by Rove and Rumsfeld in order to generate more business for Haliburton.

Well, at least my mother-in-law thinks that. She also says Bush is going back to the White House early to take advantage of the situation. He'll do more evil things (like printing Bibles or something) while everyone else is distracted.

Hilarious. You accuse me of bringing up Star Trek (something I never did) yet you are the one conjuring pure BS about 'generators' that can control hurricanes. Once again, that is not only ludicrous but outright stupid.

And as for the 'variety of possibilities' that you claim you have for such a generator, well, we are still waiting for an elaboration on those myriad possibilities. Oh, and I am talking about viable stratagems for achieving what you claim to have a variety of possibilities for. And, to make it easier for you, it could be in any of the facets you mentioned. Thus it could be on how to focus 'generators' on the West Coast of Africa, how that generator would work, what energy source could power it, how it could track and control a hurricane, and how the potent forces that are in a hurricane could even be controlled.

Let others reflect on your, erm, insight.

Give the kid a break. He just read a new book and he wanna lay down the dirt onusall. As soon as he gets into some Randi fiction, he'll paint his ceiling with invisible paint and change all his quarters for choco-dollars from Long John Silvers. Then he won't bother us with his "Lazer Beeeem."

By the way, ridiculing him probably increases his self-esteem.

Nein, darling. I did not accuse you of bringing up Star Trek. But there is part of the problem exposed. And explaining anything further on this subject would end in your savaging of what I had said without your ever thinking beyond the tiny little frame of reference you have received through your education. I should rather explain the merits of British imperial rule to a Mau Mau insurrectionist thank you.

For the sake of closure, the power for such a generator in conventional thinking would come from the sun, forces and elements carried in the solar wind, and the earth's magnetosphere in isolation and in conjuction with the solar wind. The obvious platforms for harnessing such forces, again thinking in conventional terms, are orbital - both near Earth and eccentric. But we are not simply talking about conventional approaches or the little tinker toys of college physics or engineering courses. We are not talking about the stuff of published papers and little professors eagerly seeking tenure. We are talking about what has remained under development and underground, in the major powers, since the time of the Manhattan Project.

Enjoy.

Not on your life. Kyoto was designed strictly to destroy the American economy while China took advantage of the opportunity to do whatever they pleased.
