(For anyone who wanted to know about impound rules)
This weekend, for the first time, the Nextel Cup race at Watkins Glen International will follow what are called "impound procedures." Under these procedures, NASCAR officials will escort cars back to their garage stalls after qualifying, and crews will be able to do very little work on the vehicles from then until the race.
As Robby Gordon's crew chief, Greg Erwin, said: "Once you roll the car after qualifying, you have what you have. You can only make small adjustments after that."
Watkins Glen is one of 21 Nextel Cup events following impound procedures this season. Fifteen events will not be required to follow the rules.
"It's a unique situation to do it on the road course," Nextel Cup driver Jeff Gordon said Friday. "First time we've ever had that thrown at us.
"But I like the impound weekends," Gordon added. "I just wish they'd do it more consistently. One week they're doing it, one week we're not doing it. I was hoping that next year, we do it every weekend, is what I'd like to see. Or just do it one way or the other, that's all that matters to me."
According to Nextel Cup rules, once a car is returned to its garage stall after qualifying, only two crew members are allowed to remain with the vehicle. They are then allowed to: shut off electrical switches and master power switch, remove the radio, check air pressure in tires and cover the car. Crew members must then leave the garage.
On the morning of the race, teams have a list of about 13 actions that two crew members may do to the car, including priming the oil system and starting the engine. Teams also have a list of eight actions they may not do, including entering the garage without a NASCAR official present, climbing inside the car and adding fuel, oil or brake fluid.

Currently Truex is on the pole. Drivers say the rain washed most of the rubber off the track. At least the Cup drivers are going after them and there should be a little more rubber on the track.
Truex
Edwards
Lewis
Cook
Waltrip
Sorenson
Sauter
McMurray
LaJoie
Yeley
Sadler
Sherman
K. Earnhardt (has a bad time and probably won't make it in, they sent him out with someone else out on the track still)

EEEEEK, She didn't bother me all that much when she was on Fox.
But, I had to turn her off the other night on MSNBC when she was in the parking lot of the courthouse where the prison guard was shot.
They were about to announce the capture of the Hyattes, she was so breathless and gushy it was unwatchable,

Boris Said puts himself into the show and knocks Kerry Earnhardt out with a 119.642 (good for 3rd of 31 and 1st among 13 field-fillers).
Who knew FastKasey could road-course; he just took the pole with a 120.713.

Continuing the Busch qualifying, Travis Kvapil puts down a 117.818, good for 16th among 33, and 5th among 14 field-fillers. That puts Chris Cook into the show, knocks Joe Fox out, and puts Scott Turner and his 113.667 on the bubble.

Yes he is a lefty! I wonder how many drivers are? Usually lefties are more artistic.
My favorite commercial of course. :)

Threats to an all-Evernham Buschwacker front row: Carlos Contreras heads out 37th (right after Stanton Barrett), Crash Gordon (who slapped #55 on his ride to avoid conflict with Wally Dallenback) heads out 44th, Busch track record-holder Scott Pruett out 48th (dunno the quality of his ride though), and Smoke out last.
Okay; why did The Other Earnhardt's time just update on TP (not that the update is good enough to get him out of the "go-home" category)?

What's going on at the Glen (I could either be Speed-deprived for FR-deprived)?
Morning Jayski update -
- Latest on Coo Coo Marlin is he's in serious condidtion, continuing his battle with lung cancer. With Sterling remaining down in Tennessee with his dad, David Stremme will get a taste of the Silver Bullet for the rest of the weekend.
- Despite the fact that Toyota pulled out of the Busch/Truck approval process just before their first scheduled on-track appearance (3 weeks ago), Bill Davis Racing had a fleet of Toyota Camrys in the shop, including one with Robby Gordon's paint scheme.
- There's a wide range of numbers being tossed out for Kurt Busch's contract with Penske ($6-12 million), and Roush won't let him go early.
