Also, Curt Schilling actively campaigned for GWB right under John Henry's nose. I know Mike Timlin and Johnny Damon were Bush supporters. I suspect Tim Wakefield, Kevin Millar and a few other Red Sox players were Bush supporters, but I can't prove that.
And "big Red Sox fan" John Kerry's favorite Red Sox player was some guy named "Manny Ortez".
I was at Fenway during one of the games in which John Kerry made an appearance late last summer/early fall. When he was announced, there was a smattering of polite applause, along with a big round of BOOs (My husband and I and two friends contributed to the latter, of course).
All Red Sox fans/players/employees are NOT RATs...
Why isn't this in Breaking News?
Manny visited his ailing relative, and several of the 25 were no longer with the team-- Petey, Lowe, etc. Even DiMaggio and Pesky were there.
The Yankees found their stopper-- Al Leiter. He'll face Wakefield on Sunday.
The Yankees are expected to send a low-level minor leaguer to the Marlins and pick up some of Leiter's remaining salary. Leiter, 39, was 3-7 with a 6.64 ERA for the Marlins when he was designated for assignment Thursday. He has a one-year contract worth $8 million, $4 million of which is outstanding.
GREAT pix!
the team is certainly likeable, but your manager is an idiot.
Roont 'em!
I remember that...
Priceless.
I would love to attend a BOSOX game some day.....not that I'm a big red stocking fan...Just would like to see the Green Monster.
P.S. Any team that beats the dang Yankees...is a good team...in my book.
WooooHoooooooo RED SOX!!!
How bad is Leiter?...Hint....The Mets didn't want him..
Whoop-de-damn-do. The Red Sox beat up on the immortal Tim Redding (already designated for assignment) and Darryl May and Jason Anderson (soon to be DFA.) But the Yankees have not only beaten Curt Schilling and Matt Clement, the team's two best pitchers, they are also only 1 1/2 games out of first, despite being written off for most of the year. What's a bigger accomplishment?
The Yankees are desperate for pitching- that's all there is to it.

Yo! Kenny!
No more posts? Two more potholes on the road to happiness?
Today....arrrgh!!!!
I guess life ain't so sweet, with former Met Al Leiter pitching like an All-Star to lead the Yanks to victory, eh?
1/2 game lead now. .....and dwindling.
Youse guys will be clawing for a wildcard spot by the time the two teams meet again.
You can find my crow consumption on the new thread..I pinged you..
We're on the new thread..gloat over there..
Beautiful, wasn't it? (The Yanks never should've traded the guy for Barfield in '89).
K. Brown's pitching today, I see. I doubt he has anything left in the tank, but we know soon enough. Any word on when Jaret Wright is supposed to return? Wang's injury could be season-ending, last I hoid.
Do you happen to know why Torre pulled A-Rod aside on the field right after the game last night and gave him a talking to (in front of the media)?
