Good morning Becky! Kids are busy with schoolwork today and I am reading a Joel Salatin book on farming. : )
Did you get a chance to treat Susie etc? One of my friends in AL is having the same problem. Seems that its a bad year for them.

Hot and humid here! : ( I need to mow the large field, and started yesterday but I am going to wait till this evening when it has cooled down hopefully. The weeds sneaked in and took over when we were away!

I still have more mowing today too.... and I have to wait too, because it's pretty wet with dew and humidity and clogs up the mower.

We always seem to have a healthy dew on the grass in the mornings here this year, and by the time it has dried, it is too hot to mow! Evenings about 8pm onwards are the best times. The boys are asleep and Emma listens for me while i am out mowing. : )

Same here - I wait till the tall grass dries out, and by then it's hot.

Hot and humid here too!

It's 85 degrees out, but the heat index is already saying it's 91!!

Yes and No, on susie. The vet I wanted to use is on vacation and won't be back till the 11th. I tried calling another and they wanted $32 just to look at the dog then another $25 for the shot to stop her itchiness. I'm sorry I'm not giving a vet $32 to tell me something I already know, and $25 for a shot my old vet use to give her for $5. That's ridiculous.

I went to Walmart and bought a better flea shampoo, and a medicated shampoo and I bought another package of Advantage, and 2 5lb bags of Seven dust:). I've bathed her now with both shampoos and only got like 5 fleas off her, I think she's just very allergic to them. As soon as she dries I'll put the Advantage on her, and I put 10 lbs of Seven dust in the carpet:) with a collender. I've done that before when we go on vacation and just leave it till we get back, then vacum it up. That takes care of spiders, scorpions etc too.I don't really think I'm infested with them, because I just don't see them. Years ago before Advantage, we use to battle them every year and we would see them just thick on our white socks.

If this doesn't work, I guess I'll take her into the vet that will be back the 11th.

Becky

Our grass is so burned up, I probably won't have to mow much till fall. I'd love to mow the pasture, but it's just too hard on the riding lawn mower. Even with marking the rocks out there this winter, they are still hard to see. Next summer I will have one of those push weedeaters. They work so much better then a mower anyway, they don't scalp it down so short, and they are easy to push. I had one a few years ago, but it got stolen out of my front yard:(. When I had it that was when my pasture looked it's best.

I'd love to have one of those DR field and brush mowers to do the back forty. I pick around out there with both the push mower and the weedwacker where it's still too rough to mow, and that thing looks like it would do both jobs :~D

I've seen those. I've wondered if they can be set higher then my riding mower. It's not high enough, or what it does to it if you hit a rock. That's the best thing about the push weed eater it doesn't hurt it when you hit rocks.

I may have to go nap here:), I've already rode Rusty this morning, been to the grocery store, and bathed my dog.

Do you guys recommend Neoprene? I haven't used them but I've heard others complain about them.

I use a neoprene girth and breast collar too. I love it and I've never had a cinch gall.

OK - well that's several recommendations, and I don't remember what the complaint was. I'm pretty sure they have them in English at the tack shop I go to.
