Oh - and more pictures uploading! :~D
Do you have a choice with cinchs on an English Saddle? I've always used felt ones or the rope ones. I can't remember ever haveing a rug unless I forgot to stretch the skin out from under the cinch.
I Would be careful show sheening in that area, might make it a bit too slippery:).
Becky
Can you get a wider cinch? Spread the pressure out more over a bigger area? I don't know, I'm grasping. I've noticed before that some horses just seem more prone to them. I've never had to deal with that problem. I've been told that too loose can be as bad as too tight. Do you pull his front legs out after cinching to pull all the wrinkled skin out from under the cinch?
Becky
Well, at this point I think slippery would be good! I'm also gonna ride on the loose side.
There isn't a lot of choice in english cinches... but there's some. They make fuzzy cinch covers, OK if they're clean, and there is a kind of fabric cinch, almost like canvas... I don't think it'd be better.
Yes, I do pull his legs, and you can see how wrinkley he is there... I think leaving the cinch on the back straps is good too, to leave it far back instead of forward.
Well then it sounds like you've got it covered:)
I'm not a fan of those fuzzy cinch covers, they can sure pick up alot of things like sticktights, do you have those there? and grass that can irratate as much or more then just the cinch. But worse comes to worse, I guess it would be worth a try. Good luck.
Becky
Poor Bay. Would it be a safety issue to put some wool or cushionibg padding between him and the cinch after he's healed?
Those fuzzy covers are good if they're clean, but you're right, they're worse if they're dirty.
I know exactly what you are talking about here:) The first time I saw a horse do it scared me to death. I've come to the conclusion it has to do with when cold water, runs on their privates:). I've only seen it happen at bath time, and that's what you were doing, so my theory still fits:). I just haven't figured out why they do it sometime and not others.
Becky
I dunno, Cindy.... I'm up for trying everything! I think he's got old skin!
That's what it sounded like to me too :~D
"Togetherness shots" top of a ridge
Wide spot in the trail togetherness :~D
Cedar tree

Remember this white rock from earlier pictures? It's still scary, after all these years :~D
Cooling off in the creek on the way back
Some other riders:
And more riders coming from down the creek :~D
Well I had the hose in one hand and her tail in the other so water was definately on her privates. I could hardly believe what I saw.
I bet if you had Eddie spray you there with the cold hose, you'd do the exact same thing :~D
Nah. I would have kicked him .
LOL :~D
Speaking of cold water though , the hose water was so hot, it might have burned. I had to let it run a few minutes before using it.
That can happen too... when it's hot out.
Those are beautiful pictures. Did you have any problems getting them thru the bridge?
