Laziness is a great motivator. The two forces from which all technology has sprung are Laziness and a burning desire to kill your neighbor (and take his stuff so you can be lazy again).

Hmm... nah, I will just threaten them with a tower. That should be pretty scary for a kid that has grown up in a secret underground lair. Plus it saves trying to add a tower on to a secret underground lair.

So... were the kids really *that* bad today that you gotta saddle 'em up and rent 'em out? :-)

Naw. I can't do that just yet.

I am taking Becky riding this weekend though!

I'm calling here tomorrow to be sure they have well-broke horses to spare.

hehehehe...

Close, but not quite.

But Becky straightened up right away when I told her that I wouldn't take her if she gave me any grief tonight.

It makes for excellent leverage!

Wow... I'll bet she really will love that. Have you done it before?

Like a lesson, or like a trail ride?

I've been on a horse maybe 3 times in my life and all were guided trail rides.

Becky's ridden on guided ponies at least a dozen times and she has a real tender heart for animals. That means she will be cautious and treat the horse with respect and love, instead of seeing it as an amusement park ride.

I personally think she'd excel at it, so I'd like to encourage her to get involved with horses now and see if she takes to it.

If not, there's always gymnastics class. Or piano lessons. Or ballet...

I figure the trail ride first. Maybe have one of the people there lead a pony for her.

If she enjoys it, then lessons are a great investment.

If she doesn't, then I know that I can go take the lessons myself if I want to and she can try something else.

I'd love for her to take to it, so her and I could do something together one-on-one once or twice a month.

You're older than me, right?

Is anyone here on the thread leading the life they thought they would at 21?

I dunno, I never give the future much thought. I figure it's a waste of time... to quote the military maxim, "No battleplan ever survives contact with the enemy." So, I don't spend a lot of time making plans.

Heck, I didn't even go online until I was 24.

But this had me in tears at my desk.

You may note, at the end of the video it indicates that that is #4 featuring that preacher. I've seen two of the others, just as hilarious!

I'm really excited about it.

I was going to go anyway, just for some alone time, but decided that Becky should go too.

She'll be 8 this September, so she's old enough to understand that you ~can~ hurt a horse. I won't have to be concerned about her pulling back too hard on the reins or kicking the horse to go faster when she isn't ready to ride full canter yet.

In other words, a mostly worry-free ride.
