My sons are already hounding me to buy this. I'm sure I'll give in.
I just picked up the Vietnam game for $9.88 at Target! Never played Battlefield before and expected it to be like Medal of Honor or Call of Duty. It is certanly different!
We need a Freeper Clan, I'm still playing DCF but have played the BF2 Demo.
Someone should start a BF2 pinglist!
I still can't stop playing Halo 2.
Get it. Excellent game. Only if your computer is up to it though. Very ram and graphics intensive game. See you on the battlefield. Look for doodad the anti-tanker on a server near you.
WARNING WARNING WARNING:
I bought this for my fiance yesterday. Bacon can attest to the utter goodness of my fiance's game PC . . . it's top of the line . . . and the damn game is kicking him out at random.
This is one buggy mother, and there's no patch for it yet. (However, the developers are publicly admitting a need for one, and it's in the works.)
Just a word of caution, before you drop $50 on it.
I just joined the 30+ clan. Freeper clan would be cool. We can challenge the DU clan. Jim, can the server handle this?
I played Battlefield Vietnam for a while myself. I enjoyed the gameplay, especially with other human players.
i've played the B2 demo and L O V E IT! good solid engine although slow to load. you would need a NASA supercomputer to run the game on it's highest details. medium details on a radeon 9600 looks great with a good frame rate.
try the demo first you might buy it for yourself.

Yep there are bugs, but it can be worked around. Don't play the ranked servers for now. Patch is out this week.
Make sure you get all the upgrades. Patches have addressed several bugs and have extra maps. If you liked BFV, get the original 42 it is a blast!
There are some fixes for that "kick to desktop" I'll try to post a link here.
You -have- to get the Desert Combat Final mod... you will flip. Just google "Desert Combat Final"
He's not online. He's playing solo at home, and he's been kicked out again since I posted.
He is peeved, and I'm indignant on his behalf.
Fix your damn games BEFORE you ship them, developers! Or suffer the fate of John Romero.
Daikatana, anyone? (Okay, who-all just winced?)
If you might, you will be my new best friend. ;)
Hard to get working capital that way. There are a lot of boring games on the market, however, that have great bug-free startups.
Well, this is true. ;)
Are you in game development, by any chance? My absolute dream job is for someone to bring me a disc and tell me, "Here's the game. Now play it and write the manual that'll ship with it."
Man, oh MAN would I love that. And I haven't the slightest idea where to begin.
I hear you that is not right. Nforce4 mobo by any chance? There are some known issues. Also, you have to have good video drivers. The ones that came with the game are needed for nvidia users. ATI users are hung out to dry.
With my mid-range video card, I've had good results setting all the video values to "high" except for 'textures' and 'lighting' which are set to "medium," and then enabling anti-aliasing to 4x within the application. Granted, the resolution is only 800x600 but it's good enough to get a decent frame rate with acceptable details.
