Um, the power went out and it took me the longest time to figure out that the surround amp was dependent on the VCR power being on... hence, no sound out of the PC, and no recording sound on the AVDV capture.

I'm getting too old for this equipment failure thing. Yeesh... otoh, I've always been blond (well, with a touch of Irish red).

Hope for no rain. If it does rain, Motorsports One has these drivers missing the Cup show (all with insufficient attempts) - Boris Said, Kenny Wallace, Kerry Earnhardt, Dan Pardus. On the Busch side, missing would be Brian Vickers (would have to be a Post Entry; not only does the team have more attempts than the 30, but he's the most-recent ex-champ), CW Smith, Eric McClure and Kim Crosby.

Rumsfeld named Pepsi 400 grand marshal

U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld today was named grand marshal for the 47th running of the Pepsi 400.

Rumsfeld will give the command 'Drivers, start your engines' in NASCAR's summer stop at Daytona International Speedway. The race is set to begin 8 p.m. Saturday.

Rumsfeld will also lead the 43-car field in the pace laps from the grand marshal pace car.

"It is only fitting to have Secretary Rumsfeld serve as Grand Marshal for an Independence Day weekend tradition like the 47th Pepsi 400," said Speedway president Robin Braig. "We are honored and privileged that Mr. Rumsfeld will be on hand to witness one of NASCAR's grandest nighttime spectacles."

Yeah, I don't like the NBC guys that much. A lot of people gripe about DW and Hammond et al, but BP annoys me.

For the moment, it is. However, the NWS has occassional showers/t-storms today between 11 am-8 pm (80%), then showers/t-storms likely tomorrow between noon and 8 (70%), a slightly-lower chance of the same Sunday (60%), then scattered showers/t-storms between noon and 8 Monday (40%).
