Hi, bev.
Just finished watching Dance with the Stars; I love ballroom dancing and the couple I want to win is still in the contest. Yippee!
I am pooped! Going to bed, and will start the thread early tomorrow.
Hi Bev
I'm storm watching tonite. It sounds nasty. Reports of power lines down, semis upset on the interstate, campers gone rolling, barns GONE (as described by the newscaster),,, not blown away, GONE, I'm hoping it was a J-school intern who doesn't yet understand the importance of words well choosen.
Hatches battened down.
We are ready to go.
Poor Sadie, poor You. Seems she has a lot of ear infections. Beanie used to, but I've started putting mineral oil mixed with neosporin in her ears after I clean them and she hasn't had anything but dirty ears for a couple of years. How her ears get so dirty, I don't know. She is an outside dog, that spends most of her summer time indoors, so go figure. She also has a tail full of horse burrs. I am not allowed to touch her tail. Actually my dog Beanie is a mess, she's combed, spray cleaned, but always a little "mussy" with horse burrs in her tail.
Just visited with a friend in Amery WI, they just got the first of two trees cleaned up from the storm a couple of days ago.
And she's watching the radar screen, knowing she's going to get hit again.
Just my thoughts of the place, prairie. Remember when Barbara Bush had to have Pres. Bush take a RAT out of the Whitehouse swimming pool, IN the Whitehouse, yet.
When x42 says something like that, #97 is running, full tilt for th wh.
g'night all. I'm sleepy.
G'nite till
I'll be up for quite a bit, watching the storms.
Hubby suggested I go to sleep and wake up when the storm hits.
I have my emergency stuff sitting by the basement door. The candles for auxillary light are on the kitchen table. The flashlight is by my side.
Hubby is probably right. I really should go to bed.
You know I used to live in Mt. Pleasant....well, there were quite a few times that I just stayed in the basement. I grew up in Houston - could deal with hurricanes, but I could never get over my fear of a possible tornado. Think I told you that we went to dinner at that really good restaurant in your town (Captains Table) and then walked around town and looked at the damage from a tornado. I remember being absolutely fascinated by a piece of straw sticking out of a telephone pole. Imagine the force it took to do that!!!! I can't remember the exact year, but know it was 1957, 58 or early 59.
NO! don't go to bed until the power goes off :-)
Oh Bev!!! You are still the QUEEN of thread killers! and, nobody even noticed your new tagline :-(
I'm here to rescue you from your fate.
I lived a block south of the h.s. from 1953 until 1967. I would have been in jr. hi. during the time period you mentioned. I do not recall a tornado during that time.
The only tornado I can remember was May '98. A bad one. No lives lost, but millions of dollars of property damage and hundreds of old, old trees destroyed.
here's the radar map I'm following:

I am in Eastern Iowa, south/central part. The storm isn't here yet. I'm going to rest awhile and see what happens.
The worst of it is going North of us.
Sorry, I logged off early last night. She's staying with friends basically, staying outside during the day, it's a top floor apt to boot.
