oh.. LCDR & a little pumpkin head. How precious is that!!!

LOL! How cool that you can recognize a Navy officer's rank just by looking at the uniform! What indicates his rank, the shoulder boards? I was born and raised Navy, and I never learned the officer's ranks like that.

you learn the ranks quickly - day one in OCS. Important to know who to salute.. and when you are a new officer, it is everyone! the two wide gold bands with the thinner one in the middle is the LCDR, the three wide bands is CDR .. which is one rank higher

Important to know who to salute..

That's what my son said when he was in boot camp. Actually, he said it was very easy to know who to salute when one is a seaman recruit. If it moves, salute it! :-)

I know the officer's ranks in order, ie: ENS, LTJG, LT, LTCD, CDR, CAPT, etc. I just can't recognize rank by the uniform. I can the enlisted rates. That is what I was most familiar with growing up.

LTCD..not exactly..

LCDR

confusing also as Captain is high ranking in Navy.. just below a star; in other branches the Captain is a lower level officer.

Need to sleep.. just penned off a note via FReepMail to sistahs..

Thank you. This was my first Father's Day without Dad. We lost him last October. He was very frail already when that picture was taken at my wedding in March 04.

Dear Auntie, as usual, I am bringing up the rear, but I did want to let you know how beautiful the Father's Day graphic is and how much it meant to us! God bless our troops! Love you, shmyrtle
