Men are fully capable of pondering the philosophical, moral and ethical implications of initiating an interpersonal relationship with a woman when we approach her in a bar and ask "so, do you live sleep around here often?". ....might I add, "without any guilt at all, until after (...........) fill in the blank!

(they remind me a lot of the Elizabeth Peters books).
I'm not familar with them... I'll have to check it out... (I read tons).... thanks for the tip... BTW... I REALLY love the irony of the ending of "Returns"... somebody got cursed and eaten by bugs for nothing... This could be used as a pre-marital training film - ROTFLMAO...

The EP books are very much like the Mummy movies. She's a brain, her hubby is a hunky brain, their kid is precocious (but I think he doesn't come along until book 8 or so) and they all have these adventures together.

The admiral is my favorite ... I like older guys. I was just telling Der Prinz last night (as we watched an episode of "The A-Team") that he's improving with age, just like George Peppard.

I'm not normally a chick flick fan, but I found
The Notebook to be a real gem.
And you're right about Garner and Rowlands.
By the way, here's a pic of Messing. Don't we have rules around here?

I'm not gorgeous....this guy was! We raked in a fortune in tips because the chicks fell all over him. Of course I wasn't likely to be kicked out of any guys bed so I contributed equally as much!!!

I like the story already!!! Wait till you get your life with your partner worked out BEFORE you add a kid to the mix.

The son was born not much more than a year after the marriage. She was pregnant at the end of the first book.

Ahhh,
OK, I didn't read the books in sequence and I thought she was pregnant in the second book and yeah, the kid didn't come in as a character until later books.
It's been YEARS since I read the early books.

cary grant is just awesome. but he was also an actor in a time where many movies weren't all that outlandish. perhaps romanticized, but possible- and many were based on true stories. and the vast majority of movies appealed to everyone.
admittedly, i like watching jet li action movies for the impossible yet neat fight scenes, but my all time favourite action movies will always be captain blood (errol flynn) and the mark of zorro (tyrone powers).

...It has been said that the test of a higher intelligence is the ability to grasp and hold two completely contradictory premises in your mind simultaneously.
F. Scott Fitzgerald is credited with that. He's also credited with the quote, "Never marry someone crazier than you are."
(I'm kidding about that second quote, though it is good advice).
