Thanks for pinging me on that. I used to have a wonderful photo of a hummingbird and can't find it.

I read back a few of your posts and didn't catch on why you talking about hummingbirds, but my concentration is zip today.

That's a beauty! Ours is redder and more checkered under the wings. That one looks a lot like it, especially with that thicker neck.

One person suggested Red-tail but it doesn't fit and another said Harrier, but others doubt that.

We get the occasional odd bird here. Last year we had a couple of birds identical to downy woodpeckers except where the red should be, they were yellow!

My fault. I started the hummingbird conversation on #359. :-)

I get Northern Flickers in the morning. They're an odd species; woodpeckers that inhabit garden feeders.

Skittish, though. They fly off if they see humans.

With four cats who never go out, I have two pully lines outside windows on which hang two feeders each.

It has been such great entertainment for cats and humans alike, I've installed mirror film on a couple windows that look out at the feeders. With birds only seeing their reflections in the two-way mirror, the cats can go nuts and we can stare all we want.
