I'm afraid Medved is wrong on this one. Either that or he sat in the wrong theater. The original Batman movies are crap next to this one. This movie is just plain GREAT! And that is saying A LOT coming from me. :)
Agreed 100% excellent film. The others can't hold a candle to it. And your handle is great!
"And your handle is great!"
I actually got to meet Bruce Campbell at a Bubba Ho-tep screening. Very funny guy, very appreciative of the fans. Wish he could get some big screen work more often.
Woo-hoo, JSA!! They are a cool bunch of super-heroes. I love the old guys.
This is an excellent Batman film - the best they've made so far, by far.
The first 1/3 may seem slow-going, but it's engaging and gets your mind in the right gear for the rest of the film. And I love seeing playboy Bruce Wayne done well. The cast fits like a glove (I allow room for criticism of Kastie Holmes, but to me she did what she had to in the role she plays).
As Stargirl said in a recent issue, "The JSA shows the other superheroes how they are supposed to act."
You have the consummate gentlemen in Green Lantern and Flash, the toughness but fierce loyalty of Wildcat and Hawkman (although Hawkman was just killed), the wisdom and compassion of Dr. Mid-Nite, the brains and courage of Sand, Mr. Terrific, and Hourman, the strength and gentle compassion of Powergirl, Captain Marvel, and Atom Smasher, and the youthful courage and optimism of Hawkgirl, Jakeem Thunder, and Stargirl.
I like seeing a movie at the theater, but $7.50 for a bargain price when you can buy most movies for$15 or less if you wait a little while and the dvd quality is a lot better than the theater.
"t's the quality of movie theaters that's keeping people away"
We are fortunate to have a great movie theater near us. It is clean, has stadium seating, the people are friendly. While I do have a great home theater, nothing beats the excitement of going to the movie theater and sharing the experience with hundreds of other fans. By-the-way Batman Begins was the best batman movie I have ever seen. The folks applauded and cheered at the end. When I do that at home my people just look at me like I'm crazy.
Batman Begins is a good film. Was that you singing opera? ;)
I sunk over $12,000 on my home theater and with the widescreen tv and progressive scan dvd and 5.1 sound with 7 speakers {3 of them are sub-woofers including my center channel speaker}, I enjoy watching movies at home.
I will buy Batman Begins and may go see it. I definitely plan on seeing the War of the Worlds remake using one of my 6 free tickets.
Are you of the male persuasion?, because you described your home theatre just like a man would. ;-) I think War of the Worlds will be a good movie, but I am so sick of Tom Cruise, I can't give him any of my money....
I've been to that mall. The Warner Bros. store there had a huge Batman figure hanging from the ceiling.
Rofl...nope, I can't sing. But I do think the opera could have been (definately should have been) Die Fledermaus by Strauss!
I was hoping to see a playbill in the scene! lol
This one captures the "Dark Knight" feel very well. Gotham City is corrupt, dark, and dangerous. The Batmobile is fantastic!
The lead, Christian Bale, is a good choice for Bruce Wayne/Batman--he has the look, the voice, etc. Also well-cast are Michael Caine as Alfred (he's especially good), Gary Oldman as Gordon, Morgan Freeman as sort of a counterpart to 007's gadget guru, and Liam Neeson as Wayne's mentor. Katie Holmes as the love interest/Asst. DA is OK--not great, but OK. There are a few other key characters--a crime boss, a crooked cop, a spooky court psychiatrist.
Kept my interest throughout, very entertaining.
I just saw the movie "Batman Begins". I have to admit it was pretty good movie. This is certainly one of those movies you have to see in the Theater.
