I started a small wine cellar last November. Previously I preferred German whites because of my army service in Germany. Out of 68 bottles I own only one(1) bottle of German wine. I seem to have developed taste for reds, Bordeaux in particular. I'm not sure why. I didn't start out in that direction.
I also tried a few Pinots. Not too impressed. It seems to be a very over hyped wine. But I've also found that if you like a wine, drink it and who cares what anyone else thinks.
One of my favorite guilty pleasures is a simple Hungarian wine called Bulls Blood. Nothing fancy, just tasty. I also stumbled into vintage ports. A decanted vintage port in the correct glass followed by chips of frozen dark chocolate. It's toe curling good.

In my store the whites sell in this order:
1. Chard
2. Sauv Blanc
3. Pinot Grigio
4. Jo Reisling
5. Gewurztraminer
6. Pouilly Fuisse

Good grief. You came on a wine thread to tell me you hate wine? I guess I'll quit drinking it! ;o)

Well, you said the same thing when I
a) Made fun of PETA
b) Made fun of your pole dancing
c) Told you men and women can't be friends
I'll add this to the list! ;o)

We order wines shipped back home whenever we visit a good winery. Unfortunately, we're gettin low on stock. Time for a road trip!

I agree. My attitude is: try everything, and drink what you like.
We just started drinking port as well. I've never tried it with chocolate, but it sounds great.

I like that idea a lot. If we ever visit wine country in CA, I'd love to send back a few cases.

Thanks. I may take you up on that.
I didn't realize that there were any other areas of CA that had wineries until we started watching "Simply Wine" on the Fine Living channel, which is hosted by Master Sommelier Andrea Immer. It seems that our west coast is becoming a highly respected producer of fine wines. The climate there is very hospitable to the growing of grapes, unlike our weather here in the east.
I've always wanted to visit Washington state as well.
