I learned how to ride with my butt. My legs are pretty relaxed while I am in a saddle.
Have you ever put your hands underneath you butt bones when you sit down? Whoooeeee breaks your hands off!!
Funny thing is, the only time we've ever seen a bear, she was with me.
Mabe the bear already knew about you and he was waiting for a show?
Maybe that is what I do too caz that's where I get sore also. That and my shoulders for some reason.
It is almost like having sea legs and then step back on dry land......
I was mowing behind the pasture last night and had a wreck with my tractor. Dog gone tree got in my way. I was making a sharp turn, and hit the wrong brake pedal. It was a small dead tree, but I had it between the wheel and fender. I got off the tractor, and thought I could just break it off. Well, I did, but it broke in half and hit me on the head.. Ouch! Big goose egg. I had to take a hike back to the house and get my SIL to get me out. He had to saw off what was left of the tree down to get the tractor out. Sure messed up my hood. I sat last night with an ice pack on my head. Right before I went out back, I got the tractor stuck in a low spot in the pasture. Maybe, I should give it up.
I went back out this morning, and finished. There were 4 brush piles, I wanted to burn up. I did 3 and the last one had a bunny nest close by in the high grass I didn't get mowed, because of the pile. I almost set it on fire, but my dog alerted me to the nest. We did see a red fox running through the pasture, last night. Poor bunnies won't last long with him around. The hawk loves that I mowed the pasture. He can see his meals now.
There should be a bumper crop of hay this year here. The grass was so thick and high in the back. That's a good sign.
Came in the house, to catch the Belmont. Good excuse to sit a spell.. ;')

You don't want to do that with my saddle because you are sitting on two boards covered with rawhide. : )
It sounds like you guys need to relax! LOL. When I was learning how to ride my back hurt all the time and so did my legs, but then I learned how to ride and relax and I felt better.

Haha yikes, well, do that in a chair, not in that saddle.
Learn to relax? My horse was so relaxed that at times she would fall asleep and stumble...... : )
Everyone I knew, that owned an Australian stock saddle, ended up selling them. There are not as comfortable as they look. The complaint was, that they held your body way too straight up. With all those rolls, you cannot go with the movement of the horse. Personally, I never rode in one. The most comfortable saddle I ever rode, was a plantation saddle. My Big Horn cordora is pretty comfortable, but I really like it, for the light weight.
Oh - gads, we just decided to go for a drive... we'll miss the Belmont.... you guys post a thread if you want.
I hope the tractor isn't worse for the wear.... and same for the noggin!
I'm relaxed, it's just a deep seat, which is better than all my weight on the butt.... that's not comfy for me or the horse.
You need a larger tractor, with a cab...... : )
Ouch! Glad you are ok. Our grass got high and there was a rabbit nest in it too. I hit one with the mower. I though it was just a rat and I felt bad enough but I almost cried when I saw it was a baby rabbit dieing.
Sarah Lee takes a nap when I'm getting off to caz after I slide off I have to hug her a few minutes to get my legs back.
Hahaha not the horse! LOL, The rider!

Thanks, that is what I had heard too and the reason I bought the Western saddles.
Will bears attack a horse or just spook them?
