As a Christian, that is something that I see all too often on FR and I think it's horrible. The Bible is not something you use to try and insult or demean someone, like you tried to do with me.

Now that's a more interesting topic. You can speak volumes on that (and I will).

I think most people who we regard as, "on the left", really don't have any ideology. Most don't have a religion, or believe in absolute good & evil, and some don't even believe there is such a thing as truth. So why are they on the left?

Because they are doing what is in their best interest.

When you live and work with leftists it is best for your career if you play along. You poke fun at people on the right and you are silent when people on the left are caught lying and cheating. You give support to them simply because you don't want to be shut out.

I think Ferguson falls into that category. They think they are being "pragmatic" but they are really being enablers.

It isn't just entertainers who do this. The French and Germans who dealt with Saddam, farmers who support Democrats for the farm subsidies, businessmen who depend on protected markets, and minorities who depend on government handouts and jobs -- all these people have sold their souls to this ideology.

There are plenty of women who are more "feisty" and better looking than Ann Coulter. And I despise them all because of their leftist bias. Being confrontational can be used for good or evil and it's difficult for a woman to remain attractive when she is defending herself in a heated argument.

Your reply to my post only repeated what was said previously on this thread, and points up the problem that you continue to insist on the literalness of the definition of British instead of the spirit of what is being communicated to you about the self-identity of the Scots.

African-Americans have been part of our culture for 400 years. Do you seriously think they feel in their hearts they are completely accepted and interchangeable with white Americans due to recent decades of political definition? Scotland, Ireland and Wales have been the object of English chauvinism in similar fashion for a thousand years. Therefore the inner self-identification of those Celtic peoples remains with their home cultures, not with "Great Britain" or the peoples traditionally known as British, who are English Anglo-Saxons. Great Britain politically redefined the Scots, Welsh and Irish, but that doesn't make those Celtic cultures "British" in their hearts, something Ferguson has taken pains to point out.

You seem more interested in putting down others' opinions than understanding what they are saying to you. Why?

One of the reasons many women flocked to the Democrat party since the 60s is the insufferable need of some men to dominate and insist that their thoughts are, ipso facto, superior to the thoughts/contributions of any woman, sight unseen, but particularly if they can see her and they don't think she's hot. Attacking a woman's sexuality is not appropriate debate, it's gutterspeak, just as a man would loathe to have his physical contours held up as a reason why his ideas are or aren't valid.

What do you think is to be gained by flaming of female contributors on Free Republic? Can we not count on Freeper men to be our brothers? Whoever insulted another poster here by insulting her dead father has no place in a community of adults. Likewise, Dan, you shouldn't need to take the low road of attacks against a Freepwoman's ostensible sexual attractiveness to you in order to "prove" a point.

This is a republican political discussion site. It's about minds, and how we can use them to further our political development, not to attack one another. We won't be able to advance our causes without the civility, unity, solidarity and common purpose that should be present among us.

The Scots are British in every sense of the word. They are British geographically because Scotland is part of the island of Great Britain. They are British linguistically because because the word "British" stems from the word for the Celtic language of the ancient Brits. They are British politically because they are part of the United Kingdom. They are British culturally because ethnically they were part of the Brythonic people who originally inhabited the British isles. And they are British historically because they have had allegiance to Great Britain for centuries.

This is not about a captive nation under the domination of Great Britain. If Scotland wishes to become independent of Great Britain, all she has to do is ask.

Who said anything about marrying her? I want her to write books, columns and speeches for presidents. I want her to tell off the liberals on TV. I don't want want her to "represent conservative women". I want her to present the conservative argument. If some think her femininity suffers, then so be it.

Ann Coulter's tends to get dismissed as just another firebrand but she has a degree in law and, as a result, she is very good and doing research and digging out the truth about liberals. If she wore pants and looked like Pat Buchannan I would like her just as much.
