You can always tri the three-wheeled John Deer grass chopper...

(Er, lawnmover.)
BWAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA..... The beach might work - but not the beaches on DelMarVa - this is allergy heaven here, unless you live right on the water without anything growing around you but the beach grasses. Although asthma is not prevalent, allergies are.
I never had any respiratory allergies until I moved to Delaware when I was 22.
Bamboo - not wood..............and all those tools you list are on the premises, I just don't use them.
Is it worth it to live here, if I am sick my entire life? If my kids are sick?
Why not just move?
Cord + power plug + "on" switch ...
Isn't that easier than chopping yer fingers off manually with a machette?
(I mean, really, chopping them off mechanically is a lot faster!)
yeah, I am from NY - but I spent my summers in the mountains of NY or the beaches of NYC as a kid and in Florida in my teens.
If you're set on moving I would suggest southwest, as opposed to northeast.......the climate is better, both for the allergy/asthma problems and the politics :)
Actually it's a banana knife not a machete - but at least I know how to wield it.
West Texas is a good place for the allergy prone...just don't go planting a lot of stuff you will have allergic reactions to.
If you have oak pollen allergies, stay away from places with mountainsides filled with scrub oak...it can really make the pollen season last a long, long time...
I have spent a lot of time in NM-as you know. No, thanks - I would rather not bathe in Vicks.
Next, Alabama - I love it there. But the allergies might be worse. Not sure. VA has the reputation of being allergy central - just far enough south, and just far enough north...
Texas - now there is a good idea. Besides, one can drive 140 mph!
That fast will get the state trooper playing smokey and the bandit with you, if you aren't careful!
But there are places out in central and west Texas where there are real empty areas, wild turkeys can be seen on the side of the road, and cars are few and far between. Neat place. My dad lives in a little bitty wide spot in the road not too far from El Paso. He likes it out there. Hope he never gets too sick to have to make him leave.
Just left El Paso a couple of weeks ago.
I have no clue what I'm allergic to - an actifed takes care of the respiratory allergy problem. Most of my allergy problems are seasonal change related and show in the form of exzema. Sun exposure is the best cure for that. I help it along with creams and when it's really bad a benedryl tablet at night to keep me from scratching.
It's not just VA - it's this entire region. Something about the type of humidity seems to really flare it up on for many folks.
I have to stop talking about the subject - all of a sudden I am freaking out being itchy and it is far too late for me to take anything because I have to get up and function in the morning.
I get dry weather eczema sometime in the winter...and once I had gutate psoriasis, but the worst is when I had nervous hives for 6 months...I lived in a benedryl cloud. Every day about 6 pm I would start to hive, no matter where I was....what I was doing, what I used to wash my clothes with...even happened when I went out of town to visit my parents in Texas...oy vey...not fun having itchies...Only thing worse was when the unmentionable scum of a boyfriend I had once infected me with scabies. Both were awful...but I got rid of the scabies much faster than the hives.
I think you are right.
what the heck are "scabies"? sounds ichy.
What is scabies?
Scabies is an infestation of the skin with the microscopic mite Sarcoptes scabei. Infestation is common, found worldwide, and affects people of all races and social classes. Scabies spreads rapidly under crowded conditions where there is frequent skin-to-skin contact between people, such as in hospitals, institutions, child-care facilities, and nursing homes.
What are the signs and symptoms of scabies infestation?
* Pimple-like irritations, burrows or rash of the skin, especially the webbing between the fingers; the skin folds on the wrist, elbow, or knee; the penis, the breast, or shoulder blades.
* Intense itching, especially at night and over most of the body.
* Sores on the body caused by scratching. These sores can sometimes become infected with bacteria.
How did I get scabies?
By direct, prolonged, skin-to-skin contact with a person already infested with scabies. Contact must be prolonged (a quick handshake or hug will usually not spread infestation). Infestation is easily spread to sexual partners and household members. Infestation may also occur by sharing clothing, towels, and bedding.

(makes me itch to remember it...sun went down, and the intense itching started, cause these critters are nocternal)
ow. that SUCKS!
I know exactly what you are talking about - I went through a hives time in my life as well. My own fingernails would give them to me if I scratched an it....it is a totally miserable feeling.
The eczema is really bugging me this year - because the weather won't make up it's mind, and because it keeps moving upwards.......I don't have it in the corrk of my arms and on my neck and chest this year - it's on my face and scalp
