Why the F#$% not. That is it, plain and simple. If you can't understand that, go to DU and cry with them.
There are those who don't and I can't defeat one strong motivated unarmed man let alone two or more armed attackers and plenty of those who don't value life fit that bill. As a human being who values life I have two choices when confronted with a situation where someone is attacking or intent on attacking another less able person including myself. I can attempt to escape the situation, with no assurance of success, and try to get help, again with no assurance of success, or I can face the attacker and do whatever is possible to subdue the attack.
Unless it is overwhelmingly obvious that subduing the attack would be a vain and futile sacrifice of my life that would be my choice. With a decent firearm my chances run from fair to very good. Without one my chances are piss poor to rotten.
I owe my life to countless people, beginning with my parents (actually going back to the beginning of mankind) on down to my wife making countless sacrifices both large and small. How could I turn away or excuse myself as 'too weak' or 'incapable,' how could I possibly say I am 'unwilling' or 'it's not my responsibility' if I see someone being attacked who is just another person, like my own benefactors in life, giving of themselves for someone like a daughter, son, mother, father, neighbor, student, employee, countryman etc, etc, etc.? How could I even throw my own life away through the unwillingness to fight the best I can for it after so many have given so much to help me live and prosper?
I am competent enough and responsible enough to carry and use a firearm in the defense of myself and others. What reason other than selfishness do I have to go about unarmed when dangerous men and animals appear in life on a regular basis and always have?
The chain of human existence passing through the ages is abundant with immeasurable selfless acts making life possible and giving it meaning. It's worth defending. It is sacred.
EVERY, repeat EVERY state that has Concealed Carry "shall issue" laws has had a lowered crime rate (with guns) immediately following the passage of the law. REPEAT EVERY STATE. The states with the worst crime rates have the STRONGEST GUN CONTROL LAWS in the USA. Again, Every state with high crime rates have strict gun control laws. PERIOD, END OF STATEMENT.
I like to know that I have a method of biting back should tyranny knock on my door.

Allosaurs its quite obvious you do not have much of an education yourself, in fact it appears to me you don't have the patience to read a few posts down where I explained I was using abreviations commonly used in instant messaging. Post anything you want I'm quite certain I will understand or do you not have anything to post?
I just figured he's a kid and he just joined so he ought to get some slack on spelling, punctuation and grammar. Plenty of saggy assed adults here fumble around with the cap locks or can't find a comma or a period to save their lives. I thought it was a reasonable question for a fifteen yr old.
Hopefully he will put the answers together and write a good essay on it. Maybe turn it in at school and get kicked out. If it's a gooberment skool it might be the best thing that ever happened to him. (Just kidding. Best get the diploma if he wants to fly warbirds.)
RKBA is the political rope that led me to conservatism and political activism. I guess I'm more hopped up on Right to Life now but RKBA is wrapped right up in that.
The one who need to read up on proper etiquette is you. You do not know how to even read explanations or pull voice out of writing.
Some people enjoy having intelligent conversation and a seperate post is supposed to filter out those who don't but I can see it hasn't worked. If you don't want to talk about it then stop posting here and do something better with your time, and ya I know nothing about gun control which is why I spent the entire summer debating seasoned liberals on the issue and embarassing them, which is more than you can say for yourself.

I relish the chance to write such an essay so far the opportunity has not come up, insteady I am go to use it as a guide to debate Looney Lefties and quickly gain victory. If I get such a chance to write an essay you can I will use the reasons, right now im jus copying and pasting in a word document.
