The author of this piece said she's over 200 pounds. That's not "a little weight" unless she's 6'4.Actually, I was referring to the idea that it's best to be rail thin. I'm not saying it's best to be very large, however there are some large women that are very healthy.

Anyhow, I can see that I look MUCH better carrying this "extra" weight (although, I am thinking that this is probably the weight I should actually be), and it is making me look at Hollywood actresses with a completely different eye. Those women do not look normal, and except for in incredibly staged photographs, they really don't look good. They're too skinny, and they don't look like women. They look like malnourished little girls, and it makes me sad. Good for you! Most people think I'm advocating being "fat" while I'm more about changing the mindset of people. We have been subjected to super skinny models, Hollywood "Superstars" and the like, and this body type, quite frankly, is impossible for most of us to achieve.

Oh, was there something wrong with the way Bridget looked? I was too busy looking at Colin Firth. ;-)

Additionally, I have men ogling me all the time, big as I am, proving there are men out there who like us full-figured gals.I think she is confusing ogling, with pity.
My grandmother, who is fat, likes to say, "There are two kinds of men in this world: those who like fat women, and those who like really fat women."

Because in the US, anyone can be fat. It takes work to be thin.Dear Lauralee,
No, not anyone can be fat. If they could, we wouldn't be having this discussion. My daughter can eat anything she wants and is very thin, she seems to have inherited this from her father. It takes no work at all for her to be thin, she has a high metabolism.

I accept your right to find attractive what you find attractive. We all have our preferences. But why call another person a heifer? I can tell you right now, you might be the best looking thing on two feet, but your attitude makes you ugly. You have no idea what is going on in these peoples lives. There are various reasons why people are overweight. Maybe some can get it off and others can't, no one is perfect. Not even you.
Fat acceptance is about accepting people where ever they are. It doesn't mean fat is better. It doesn't mean you can't make yourself better. It's about loving and accepting yourself where ever you are on your journey to improvement.

Fat women of America: No. You are not sexy. You are fat. Stop stuffing you pie hole and get your sloppy bottom into some kind of physical fitness routineJust for the record, I'd like to know, what size is acceptable to you? What weight?
To: Rex Anderson
The camera takes off from 20 to 30 pounds. As far as I know (and having been on TV,) the camera adds 10 pounds.

Well, I can't say that it was "impossible" for me to achieve super-skinny weight. I am sure that I could still do it again, even after gaining weight - I have to eat well every day to keep what I have gained.
It's just that I look better this way. I look like a full-grown woman for the first time in my life. (I have a 14-year-old child, and even that didn't help). I am not at all fat, but I am very round. And it looks good. I feel like I look like I am supposed to look.

Oh, gosh! I didn't realize how my reply would sound. For the record, I am still not fat. I went from 100 pounds to 120 pounds. I'm still a small girl, just not skinny. Good for you, sweetie! I love you, even though you are under 130 pounds!!! :-)
To: small_l_libertarian
And you know what else? When I saw Renee Zellwegger at the Oscars right after BJD, I thought that she looked smokin' hot. She was packed into that red dress and, well, she was just hot. Just, mmmmmmmmm ... yummy. She hadn't had time to lose the BJD weight yet.
Then, the next year, it was after she had starved herself to look "Hollywood hot" again, and she looked AWFUL. Sagging and skinny in her white dress. Poor girl looked all pinched and pale - it was just plain sad.
I don't like the way that those women look! It's not that I can't achieve that, it's just that it isn't very pretty.

120 pounds is a lot on me. I'm one of those bird-like women with very delicate bones and not a lot else. At 120, I am positively overflowing!

For a site that proclaims itself to allow various opinions, its members fall short.

Most people have to work at being thin. But yes a FEW minority can eat anything and still be very thin. How old is you're daughter. She reminds me of my friend- that fast metabolism stopped when she turned 19.
As for me I'm 115, and yes I have to work at it. I don't beat myself up about food I just have certain things in moderation.

Everyone is different. I have a friend who beats herself up with Diets- but she's naturally not a rail and she can't be, some people are just like that.
