The minute you post anything at all, you are opening yourself up to abuse. It's very hard for me to ignore. It hurts, and I've never been able to harden myself to that sort of thing. I've been vulnerable all my life, and it isn't likely to change at my age.

I cleaned out my freep mail (there have been a few kind people here, I would like to think I was one of them as well), and I got three appeals for money from what I think might be a scam in India. I didn't know if I should report them or not. We are supposed to be able to take care of ourselves here. I've tried to handle my complaints myself and only remember hitting the abuse button one time in all my posting here.

This place is too much like my real family :-). Disfunctional.

This site has been one of the best sources of information on the net, but the price in being a part of it it too high. I will just lurk once in awhile and try to get life away from all this bickering.

Hate to see you go. It's not just FR, the entire Internet has changed since the 90's, and not always for the better. But, we have to live with it. Me, I just ignore the flamers and laugh at the trolls (I pity them too). Life's too short...Anyway, your posts were often enjoyable and we'll miss you. I bet you keep lurking, though.

Moby encouraged trolls to assail conservative forums.

Whether it be moral relativism or apolitical popculture in the NEWS section, the more they can raise the noise ratio here, the less effective this site is at permitting conservatives to gather and discuss the issues of the day (breaking news, evolving news items, and general issues). Posting and defending one's own views helps to firm up a personal perspective. It doesn't mean that anyone flips an opinion, merely thinking it through and being able to answer charges. Also people here bring their own knowledge (personal experiences and articles they have read) to the table and can point some readers to links for a deeper understanding of some of the issues/articles.

We generally agree here on basic ideas but can have disagreements about policy to achieve goals or even if there should be a policy to address an issue. Some still have not grasped the concept that this is a conservative site (or else, much as they bemoan the election of a pope who won't change church teachings, will huff and puff and shout "intolerance" anyway).

You could pretty easily build a list from any given hour's worth of hopping 'round FR. Someone else suggested a list and a common "don't respond" flag on their attacks/diatribes/intransigence. Not a bad idea either.

Seriously, I remember that situation. In fact, I believe the poster who used the "profanity" you objected to, used the same word you have used here. (I'm not sure about that)

I think people tend to be protective of the people who put up that thread because it is a lot of work and we appreciate it.

I really do not recall anyone being abusive to you...I'm sorry you thought so.

I had a huge amount of trouble from a woman (I later decided was insane) during the first year of the Day in the Life thread. I didn't post for a while, but she eventually left. She also objected to the religious bent of that thread.
