In my six or seven years on this forum, I don't think a single day has gone by where somebody didn't post their notion that the good old days of the forum were lost, and a steady decline in the quality of the posters and comments was underway.
Our seemingly endless death spiral continues apace.

I'm new in the last 6 months.
My impression of this site is that the members do a fantastic job of finding great articles and posting them. I can stay on top of anything I like on this site.
The discussion is pretty non-substantive, though. I characterize responses as either short quips or rants. Like RedWing9, I pick the article, read it, and then maybe read 4 responses, and then move on. I rarely engage in the discussion.
I was part of another forum that went this way--lots of really great discussion, the site became more and more popular, and then it disintegrated. My opinion is that if the people who engage in really substantive debate leave a forum, there is no one left to show others what the forum is supposed to be.

That's pretty funny, it was either Long Cut,or Poohbah? Not too many other Opus (es) other than that? (I've been bookmarking them for entertainment purposes). LOL!!

Whose leaving? I am just stating my observations, but I'm not going anywhere. I have people in my family that are worse than anyone here and its personal with them.

I am eastforker, if I ever leave I would never cower back under another name, thats why I stay even though I get disgusted with some of the post around here, but, if I ever leave, like I did with my ex wife, I would never come back nor would I speak ill of this place, or my ex wife, at least in front of my children.

get seemingly all the pre-2000 signups to post how the "good ol days of FR are gone", againYou won't have "all" doing that because I won't, but some posters hit me like the guys or girls who sit in malls and endlessly write their grievances in a copybook in three colors of ink.

I hate to see "old timers" go. This forum is us collectively, and we are less for the loss of any conservative. I'd hope you'll reconsider, but I think that by the time someone here reaches the point of writing their opus, it's pretty much finished.
Best of luck to ya.

No telling how many have left, made a big show of it, and then immediately signed up under a new screen name. Not necessarily immediately, but all of them.

Unfortunately the past few months have made it clear to me that FR and I are drifting apart on key issues of conservatism. I'll spare the details,...Another RNC operative bites the dust.

LOL! No, takeit - it wasn't you. We've always had our differences to be sure, and many of them, but one can hold a conversation with you. These types are on a level far below what you ever stooped to. Best regards ;-)

Happy trails.
A mans got to do what a mans got to do. Im not an old-timer; I just found FR and started lurking during the 00 election, signing on in 03. But I understand your feelings.
As the others have said, youll be back. What are you going to do during the next terrorist attack or during the next election??
Later.

Why don't we just start a list of FReepers we wish would LEAVE, and then the rest of us should just stay? (LOL)

"RNC operative?" What ever gave you that idea? I'm far too conservative for their tastes...
