An earlier thread about Dr. hammer said his congressman put him up for a nobel. The same thread said something about him being brought up before the board of medicine, or kicked out our fined or something.
After the medical ethics dispute was adjudicated, it boiled down to a single mis-billing of a single customer for a single service. I.e. his office goofed.
Thanks!
yet they made no complaints to staff or police...."they" meaning the Schindlers
Being as generous as possible to the judiciary here, I think they've gotten so caught up in scientific testimony that Terri's condition is hopeless that they've forgotten the primary issue they were tasked with deciding--is there clear and convincing evidence that under this circumstances this is what Terri would choose today if she were able.
I think they're substituting their own judgment for hers.
LOL< Don't I wish...sigh. NAw My brains just muddled by age, Wife and Kidz.
Really I was just trying to keep from speculating...trying not to make Terri look bad.
Yup, I know people of BOTH sexes have been hoodwinked. A very good friend of mine died after putting heroin through her eyeball.
Years ago after a troubled marriage that left her husband stabbed to death by her daughter, she suffered a severe brain problem. Doctors were able to save her and while she was fully functional and a very pretty and still fairly young gal, she strayed to the Wild Side of Life.
Linked up with a guy who cheated on her, abused her, was in and out of prison on various charges and eventually put a claw hammer in her head. Amazingly she recovered but went right back to him...claimed she LOVED him.
WHY? Simple... drugs.
He was feeding her drugs, pimping her, using her in the worst way but she stayed with him. Then two years ago, in the middle of the night after partying with prostitute and drug addict "friends" whe got up from the blankets she and her guy were sleeping on the floor in an unfurnished apartment above a bar, went to the bathroom, put heroin in an eyewash cup and came back to bed. She was gone in minutes.
Incredible!
So yes, I am aware it happens.

// did Terri have low esteem or was she just fooled by Michael. I have a hard time believing that last one. //
Actually it seems it was the last TWO. Don't know if you knew this, but Terri met Michael in jr. college there in PA, outsida Philly, I believe. She'd always been somewhat overweight in high school, and Michael was her first date. Her brother Bobby clapped when they drove away on their first date. She married him I think 2 yrs later.
I got an impression when I met the Schindlers (Oct '03 at hospice) that they were a kindly, very close knit family . . . and that Michael might have been jealous of what they had, ie, true closeness, decency, hard work, regard for one another, LOVE. My impression is further bolstered by Michael's unswerving INTENT to give the Schindlers continuous excrutiating pain. Like just today, when he barred them from visiting Terri for some 5 hours, w/no explanation! Like not only does he intend to have Terri's remains cremated (doing away w/any evidence, if applicable), but he furthermore intends to scatter Terri's ashes on a family area in PA rather than even giving them to her family at that point! What insult on top of their grievous injury!
It's hard to believe the Schindlers didn't really know anything was amiss w/Michael and Terri's relationship -- but then, I just read an interview w/ a mother whose daughter was killed by her abusive husband, and she had no idea anything was amiss for the 5 yrs or so of their marriage, though the daughter had bruises from being beaten. She never mentioned it to her mother or sister (who was a friend of mine); they had no idea.
Going a step further, though, I've gotten the feeling that Michael is a big bully who has successfully bullied Terri's family and the whole community. Iyer's affidavit includes that she was ordered to "do anything Michael tells you to do". I say enough already of this bully.
let me also address your first choices: Terri stayed very close to her family after she and michael were married. they even lived w/her family in FL. drugs did not ever seem to be a factor, not w/her anyway. don't know if michael has hx drugs / alcohol abuse, it might fit.
> ... but there's something about this Hammesfahr character that leaves me suspicious. The bragging about being a "Nobel prize nominee," without any explanation of what that means. Did his wife send in a nomination - or is there some special board, with special criteria, that has the exclusive authority to do so (in which case, it WOULD be an honor to be a nominee). But there's no explanatio.
The story that occasionally surfaces in explanation is that it was an unexpected referral for the Nobel prize by someone unrelated to Dr. Hammesfahr. Only that one person submitted his name several years ago, and the nomination remained just a nomination. I read that Dr. Hammesfahr chooses to not draw attention to this past event.
Then again in the story I related no one suspected anything about my friend until it was too late. She did have to take pain medications after her first brain operation, and may have become somewhat addiced then.
But later she just fell in with the wrong crowd and no matter what any of us did...find her a job, even put her up for awhile...she always ended up going back to the guy that eventually killed her. Well in my eyes anyway.
BTW he is also very close dieing from drugs. Has been in downward spiral, in and out of jail several times over the past year or so. My friends and I don't have any sympathy for him.

An article about Michael at this site: http://www.theempirejournal.com/03200508_terri_schiavo.htm
reports: --Michael has been under psychiatric care, including being prescribed several psychotropic medications.
I've read somewhere, at least once, that the night Terri collapsed, a number of medicine containers were found -- only two of which were her prescriptions. Must have been quite a few for the observation to be made that only two were Terri's.
FWIW - for what it's worth
BTW - by the way
IMHO - in my humble opinion
OTOH - on the other hand
You get the idea...
Her parents told me that even they were taken in by Michael for a long time.
The nurse has some weird things in her background. Supposedly she reported wrong doings to the polic, yet the police did nothing that has surfaced so far.
She said she was fired from her job for reporting what Michael was doing.
A Freeper turned up a document, maybe hospice? that indicated she was fired for making weird accusations that other nurses were killing everybody. For what it's worth.
Hammesfahr.....several Freepers have mentioned an uneasiness with this guy. One news article described some of his treatments as "experimental". Seems I read in another he's an advocate for stem cell research?
Greer did include him among the doctors who examined her and did include him in his description that said all the doctors are "well credentialed."
Could he have an uterior motive? Get his name out in the media, be seen as a leading edge of technology in the med field and get grant money for his experiments? Who knows.
My 2 cents.
"Virtually all of the testimony that the family wanted to present was ruled inadmissible by the judge. To my knowledge the judge didn't even get a second medical opinion."
Greer had 5 doctors give an opinion. 2 from the parents, 2 from the husband and one for the court.
He later had still another person review all of the diagnosis's.
