She lives and breathes and she recognizes her family. They love her and want her; Michael doesn't. There was no written advance direction from Terri. He has left her emotionally for another woman. I say err on the side of life.
And...this you know because you spent how much time at her bedside?
Then ask the moderator to delete your last sentence. I know it's your Gladiator moment, but try to understand.
OJ Simpson walked in the criminal trial. Although he is still hiding assets, he got nailed at the civil trial. A civil trial may reveal facts that are not yet in evidence. Did the court have all the information when they made the decision?
The same amount of time as you have.
Next idiotic question please.
Sorry, I tend to give a renowned neurologist who spent 10 hours with Terri more credit than you.
Exactly the way I took the post, Doug.
Hildy needs time out. In a nice, quiet room with pleasant cartoon characters painted on the walls.
"No, I am NOT a nurse, but I am the wife of a doctor."
When did your husband examine Terri?

ahhh, I see where you forgot to mention that shes friggin BRAIN DEAD...most people seem to forget that...alot
Yes, I agree she's PVS,
but a whole lot of senile old folks
might as well be PVS, yet they're fed
intravenously and wear diapers.
I can clearly see both sides to Mrs. Shiavo's case, and I am of the opinion that she ought to cared for by her parents, who have promised to pay all of her expenses themselves.
Oh, the wife of a doctor! Well, that makes it all different! I'm SURE you're qualified to assess communication skills, and have received training in speech pathology and non-verbal communication with brain damaged patients.
I'm SO sorry I misjudged you!
/off extreme dripping sarcasm
I've found nothing to show he does not love and care about Terri.
He visits her more than her parents do. He was with Terri all day yesterday.
Until I find facts to substantiate otherwise, I give Michael the benefit of the doubt.
I do believe he loves and cares about her very much.
Then by all means, we should listen to you...a wife of a doctor! You must certainly know Terri's ability to not communicate. And I suppose the inability to communicate makes her disposable.< /sarcasm>
You know the rules. When speaking of another poster, make sure you ping that poster.
You surely have misjudged me JudithAnne,
and shame on you.
Same here--worked six years in neuro ICU/stepdown. As I've said a couple of times in the past few days--have taken care of way too many hopeless neuro cases who, after extensive therapy, actually walked back into our unit to thank us.
Of course, our reflex response was always, "Oh my God!"
Oops. My bad. Hey -- it's my Monday out here!
Yeah!
(*snicker* *snicker*)
Like I am deciding this case.
Hysteria reigns here.
Pity.
I saw her priest, the family advisor to the family, interviewed a bit ago. I do not understand why last rites are being denied....but then I also don't understand how lotion on her body or water on her lips constitutes "prolonging her life", which he said is also being done.
I am disgusted. Thoroughly disgusted.
Even the "death with dignity" crowd cannot believe that there is dignity is what is happening to her.
