Hey Hair, I saw your posts on the thread about the boy who landed his small plane in the water. I didn't know you were a pilot. I'm so impressed.

Did they find that boy alive?

Is that thread still in play? No - he died within minutes of the phone call I am sure. It was just too cold.

That is so sad. I listened to the 911 call, it was heartbreaking.

I think the last post on that thread was yesterday.

And yes, I went to school to become a commercial pilot... earned commercial, instrument, flight instructor and multi engine certificates and ratings. I taught a little, here and there, but ended up finding other employment that paid better than flight instructing makes.... I'd find other work for winter and intend to go back during the good weather months and teach again, but one year I didn't go back and I've kindof gotten out of it. Sometimes I'm sad about that, but I am a different person now than I was then, and it takes a very driven personality to work up to the major airlines... there's no going back now. It is a neat thing that I can become current again someday and go rent a plane to fly around, or perhaps even teach a little part time if I really put something into it. I look forward to maybe doing that someday, but it's an expensive hobby to get back into with other concerns.

Wow, now I'm really impressed! That's exciting that you have all that flight training. I wish I would have done something with my life like that. I didn't even go to college. Maybe after all my kids are grown I'll go back to school.

When the kids are grown, go get a pilot license! Best of both ideas!

I don't have the bravery needed to fly a plane.

Why not? It's a lot more predicable that riding a horse!

Actually you could start now. An hour or two once or twice a week a nice break. By the time they are grown you can have a lot of credits built up. Just make sure how long they are acceptable for where you want to go. I went to college on a GED. I took classes like that. When the kids started school I did too. I'm 50 now and still in school! I'm majoring in health care adm but if I could get away with it I would change to a horse degree. Someone the other day told me I should go to vet school. I would love it but it isn't an option now.

Shoot. I'm not even brave enough to ride, much less fly on one. I sit and watch rivets on the wings and think about unions, cut backs and mechanic training. I think about security as I look at and check out other passengers. For some reason, I've always been confident in the pilots though. I guess because they have a vested interest in getting me to my destination:')

LOL I knew what you meant.

I got one of those arguments from Big Mack when I told him I was afraid to ride a motorcycle.

I would need some help at home to do anything like going back to school. I do about 8 loads of laundry every day, the house is a wreck if I don't work on it while the kids are at school, I have about 30 animals that have to be taken care of, we like to have dinner as a family so I try to cook every night, you get the picture. If I have a smidgen of free time I try to ride.

Everybody is so smart over here and I'm on a breastfeeding thread with a bunch of morons. You wouldn't believe the people that think nursing in a public place, discretely under a blanket, is offensive. They are even equating it with urinating or masturbating in public. "Hey, if it's under a blanket, I can masturbate in public if you can nurse in public."

Americans have a sortof uptight ashamed vision of sex and nursing and anything else that makes us appear to be mere mammals.

I've argued on threads about it too... I haven't seen the one you're on, I'll check it out.

I don't know why but when I read your post it reminded me that I need to go get a newspaper to look for property for sale. I'm trying to figure out what my brain stored breastfeeding and land under:')

This is Ian Millar's horse Big Ben. I think he should have been named Giant Ben. Or Humongous Ben.

I think he probably was big, I've seen 17-18 hh warmblood jumpers, but you can't tell in that picture, without knowing how tall she is, whether the picture says anything. The photo is all pixiliated like it might be something other than original. Where'd you get it?

I think he was a a bit over 18h.

I was searching through my email for that long insult thing, you know the one with the long list of insults about how stupid a person is, (I admit, I was going to post it to one of those morons on the breastfeeding thread). I didn't find it but I found this pic of Big Ben that I ran across awhile back on the internet and sent it to my email. I did a google search to try to find it again but I haven't been able to.

It looks funny because on my email, it was tiny. When I posted it, it got big. I don't know why it did that.

Oh - it did that because york and snapfish make it their 480 dimension no matter what size it was.
