Racing pacers can sure fly though. Some people have started crossing Standardbreds with Racking Horses to get Speed Racking horses. There's a high dollar class in the Racking Horse Celebration for Speed Racking and it's awsome to watch. But truth be told, a lot of them are pacing instead of racking. Not good in my book!
And I forgot to say, Cowboy Church is wonderful. I ride with a group of ladies here in south Texas, ranch-women, and we often have Cowboy Church with a local Cowboy Church preacher. It's special.
One time was far out in a pasture, by a tank (pond) beside windmill. Early in the morning. The preaching was heartfelt, sincere, to the point. I have a 'Cowboy' New Testament.
That is my experience too:)

Well Darn! You need to learn how to do that. After all, you're our resident expert on posting stuff. ;o)
HEY! I ~CAN~ do it! Our new photo album accepts movies! We are just trying out this software and I am just barely familiar with it, having only uploaded to a few of the albums so far, but ecurbh honey... I really like this feature!
Here is Froginablender's description of the clip: "Heres a little clip of my riding Buddy, Shirley, and his mare, Spot, doing a nice trail-pleasure type rack. This is about the speed we do trails at. Turn your sound up and listen to the rhythm of her footfalls. Its a perfect 4-beat gait. It wouldve been better if I hadnt opened my goofy mouth and told him to keep going. I forgot how loud it picks up nearby voices."
It does look smooth though. (ANYthing would be smoother than a long-legged, long-pasterned Thoroughbred hunter's springy trot!)
I can't get it to play on the webtv. I've turned on Mack's computer....is there any way it will mess anything up if I play it there:)? Will it even play it witht this computer being so old?
Becky
Bay has that kind of trot too. The suspension time is so long it's even awkward to post it:
Up....[lookaround]......down....[nap]....Up....[lookaround]......down....[nap]....
It plays in Windows media player, and it will either play on your system or not. Won't mess anything up to try.
If it does work, because you are on dial up, you may wait a good while before it plays, and the first play through, it may be choppy or out of synch. If you bear it and play it a second time, it should be better because it will be cached to your machine.
Cool! Thanks Hair! Now you guys know what I'm talking about. :o)
If you have a chance, can you post a picture of Dot as a baby? I thought maybe Speed was a bay, but now her mane looks red. Maybe it will go back to black? Bay would be cool, I don't have a bay horse.
I love them too although my son says they make her look evil :) She promises to be a unique individual.
I rode an Arab that belonged to a friend one time that had a trot like that. I was thinking about buying him for a CTR horse. I couldn't imagine riding him for 40 miles. The Arabs I had had nice trots.
The QH's I've rode all have easy trots to post too. Not so springy.
Rusty's long trot, is like floating, takes very little effort to post it. Harley's is a little springer, but not bad. Rocky's is OK, but being short legged, he's rather short strided, so on him, its' updownupdownupdown....:)

I'm sorry, I have no way to scan the pictures of her as a baby, and I have no pictures of her on our computer.
Becky
Cool movie, pretty horse :)
I hate computers.
Becky
Bummer :( Thanks anyway though. We will figure it out eventually when she sheds her foal hair. I've been thinking about having her and Tuffy color tested just for the heck of it. If I fall into some money I will and let you know what I find out.
I just got out Dot's pictures again, and her legs were exactly like your foals. You can look at her picture on the whose who page and see that her black socks now go very high. So I'd say your foal is going to have black legs anyway.
Becky
Didn't work huh? Bummer.... New camera, new computer, you have lots of perfect gift potential for birthdays and Christmas this year! :~D
You can't tell it by looking at this video, but this is a big mare. She's around 16hh and weighs 1500 lbs if she weighs an ounce. The guy riding her is at least 6ft tall. She looks almost like a pony in the video because she's so fat. She's the most "Drafty looking" gaited horse I've ever seen. AAM, She does tend to fall into a pace if asked to go much faster than this. I have some other (former) riding buddies who's horses rack MUCH faster than this. That's kinda why I don't ride with them anymore. I can't keep up without pacing or cantering. I'll try to get some video of them the next time I run into them.
