It's true in areas without "shall issue" laws, that it can vary according to the whims of each police department that issues them. It used to be that way in Oregon. Some liberal counties would just say "We aren't issuing any", but the permit could be gotten in another county ans was good statewide.

It's really not a bad state!

Good gun law, no state income tax ;~D

Our liberal reputation is undeserved! They probably over-regulate ecology matters, but other than that, they mostly leave us alone.

When I was living in the Charlotte, NC area a few years back, I used to play hockey at a rink that was in the basement of a shopping mall. The mall was in a bad section of town and we played late at night and the parking garage was known to be dangerous even in the daytime, so I started packing some heat (I love saying that:) in my hockey bag. The mall had a ban on firearms on the premises, so out of curiosity, I looked up what the charge would be if I got caught.

Get this: if caught with a concealed weapon in a place where firearms are banned it was a misdemeanor unless you had a CC permit. It that case it was a felony.

Moral of the story was a CC permit could do more harm than good.

If you passed the background check, took the course and range time test, paid the fee, then they had to give you a permit/license. This part of Ohio is very liberal. Hangouts from the glory days of steel mills/unions. Signs went up everywhere after the law was passed. Business soon learned that it was in their best interest, to take them down. The local newspaper even published license holders names and County! Our wonderful Govenor put that clause in.

I've watched on FR as new states enter the Shall Issue CWP arena, and the silly paranoia about people packing guns everywhere, the horrors! The debate seems foreign to me because WA has been a shall issue CWP state since before I can remember. Once time passes, people don't worry about CWP holders so much, certainly not store owners.

If you did get caught carrying in a place that restricted, I would imagine how much fuss would be raised, would determine the penalty. Like you said, just keep quiet.

BTW, I always pack when riding. We can still open carry, and the pistol gets strapped to the saddle.. ;')

Good morning! Well, I guess it's afternoon now. we finally have rain here in the hill country.

I bought a Yerf Dog on Saturday! That's a utility cart. To haul hay and feed, etc. It's my new toy! Bright red. Gas engine, 10 hp and a little flatbed that will carry about 400 lbs. A friend came out and we tootlted around in it. On a 70 acre tract near here which I am thinking about leasing to put my mares on. Fun with machines!

Well back from riding Rusty. No lock ups, everything went fine. Is it too soon for me to be feeling optimistic that this problem is going to pass relativily easily. I cheated too, we did more then a 15 minute trail ride. More like 25-30 after the 15 minute arena warm up.

I am always a fan of optimism! I am glad he did well!

I was just about to sign off. The lawnmower is fixed and it has stopped raining. It's almost dry enough to mow. If I don't mow the lawn this week, I'm gonna have to bale it.

That's exactly what I'm heading out to do, mow. I think I'm going to have to jump start the mower tho,,,nothing is ever easy:)

I'm suppose to ride again with Tina this evening. I'll take Rocky then.

Well, I did stalls first, the grass is still a little wet, but I am going to at least see if the weedwacker will start and edge around the fence.

Yum! Well, pray the weedwacker starts. I really hate cussing at machinery.

Weed wacker started right up, with last-year's gas in it. :~D I love simple motors.

Your horse wouldn't get out of the way of it, even when I was hitting her with debris while wacking along the paddock fence. I don't know where the line is between 'spook proof' and 'dumber than a sack of hair' ;~D

Yes, electrolytes are okay. There is a person writing down the time the horse and rider come in. Then there is a person (or several) doing pulse and respiration, with another person on hand to give time in and time out (the time at the P&R check okay, and the time the rider may leave for the next lap.

And, yes, the better conditioned the horse (or the better mental attitude) the bigger advantage. Some riders come in and then must wait quite awhile before they can get their horse's P&R down enough to pass - others come in and their horses pass immediately; therefore they get out sooner. Your hold time doesn't start until the P&R.
