Unfortunately, the new species had the root of a cabbage and the leaf of a radish, and therefore had no commercial value.

Why is this such a big deal? It isn't 'macro'evolution. The new plant is still part of the salad "kind".

Well, we got just as much from the second "Error" ping as the first. Maybe we should dust off some other old threads?

Just keep this one going all weekend, to constantly remind everyone of my blunder.

Hey now, I thought I got some sort of dinner with the Grand Master,....

Well, that's the other good news; you WILL be having dinner with the Grand Master.....; the bad news is you ARE the main course. That's what happens to ALL the human sacrifices at Darwin Central™.

"Pass the Chianti sauce...."

The inexorable logic and dazzling science demonstrated by the creationists, to say nothing of their calm and deliberate demeanor, has taken a terrible toll on our ranks.

Or is it the "You'll find out when you meet HIM" part that's so persuasive?

Ah, thanks for remembering...the GrandMaster is good....being cryptic is quite interesting...

Mmm, AAMM, you do realise that no-one has seen the GrandMaster since shortly after PatrickHenry was appointed his executive assistant? He used to wave to the assembled millions in Finch Square from the window of the Tortoise Palace on Darwin's Birthday, but no longer. Only Patrick Henry and RadioAstronomer ever enter the GM's private apartments these days to intercede with him. Some of us are pressing for an investigation, or a Doctor's visit, but RadioAstronomer, PH's enforcer has a fearsome reputation, and few dare to cross his team of be-weaponed goons.

They're keeping him in the closed-off unfinished tunnel that was going to connect Darwin Central with COMINTERN headquarters in Moscow. I heard it from one of the guys in the Moscow subway who was talking to him in tap code.

Relax. The Board of Overseers wouldn't allow any hanky panky. If they're happy, you should be happy.

Having mentioned the Board of Overseers, it's only appropriate that I quell the usual rumors that constantly swirl around that most secretive group. The usual claims are that the Board consists of representatives of the Royal Family, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Bank of England, the Congregation of Oxford University, the Royal Society Of London, and the Royal Observatory. The few Americans mentioned are usually representatives of banks, Morgan being always included in such tales, although the American Philosophical Society is frequently cited.

The truth is that although the Board certainly exists and acts in a supervisory role, its membership has never been disclosed, and rumors about its membership are never confirmed or denied. All that is known is that in the event of a tragedy befalling the Grand Master, the Board of Overseers would immediately convene to appoint his successor, a practice which has been followed since the founding of Darwin Central in 1859.
