In between checking out various types of gypsum on my janitorial job at the local college, I stumbled upon these cynical words of wisdom about marriage.

Sounds like my good friend, a confirmed bachelor..."why marry? Just find a woman you hate and buy her a house."
I am unmarried as well, but I can see his point. Women in America have become the rivals of men and are a class which is favored in the courts. Most of the men I know are terrified of what will happen to them in marriage/possible divorce. It has made them understandably cynical. Of course, the really foolish men I know who have made atrocious choices for a spouse are married to Dallas Cowgirl Cheerleader types and would only have courted that type. These guys are forever used and disposed of by these types, and when free...go out looking for just the same 'poison' the second, third...time around. Lots of men are hard wired to chase that type, every other woman is invisible to them.

This guy is a riot. Assuming people really are the selfish animals he believes them to be, where's the upside in sex for the woman?
Women certainly don't need to get married to have children and get along. Women are actually not that interested in having meaningless sex after the teen years. So why should any woman satisfy this guy's sexual urges? What's in it for her?

Five more years, and then I retire (at 50) to Costa Rica, or some other babe-haunt. WITH a vasectomy.

Just as surely, does not apply to my lovely Miss Slippy....

While you are at the college, try to meet a girl in either civil or mechanical engineering. That way, you know they are smart enough to do their own taxes and replace the roll of toilet paper without needing your assistance.

Whoever wrote this sounds like a dork who's in the middle of a "quarter-life crisis." That said, based on personal experience, I think a man's got to be out of his freaking mind to get married before age thirty. Take some time to get it out of your system, to make some bread, and to figure out who you are and what you want out of life before thinking about bringing someone permanently into your life.

My grandparents divorced about age 75. My grandfather remarried a few years later (per a friend's dying request, his friend's widow). They remained happily married until they passed away, nearly a quarter-century later.

Words of widsom????? Come on, this guy has a very big chip on his shoulder about a failed marriage.
He not only puts down the whole institution of marriage, but seems to think of children as a burden also. He sounds like a coward and a failure and deserves solitude.

And the flip side is:
"At last I've found the perfect girl,
I could not ask for more.
She's deaf and dumb and over sexed,
and owns a liqueur store."
Good luck in your search..

Hey Laz, thanks man, that was good!
Editing some of the cynicism, and polishing the cannonball, she falls in love for who he is, and immediately starts to try to change him. Either change and be miserable as someone you aren't, or fight the change and make both of you miserable in the attempt. (26 Years and the fight continues!)
