No, I never go, unless Im asked to do something for Myron and Bill. Generally, I like to be totally alone to see the game with absolutely no distractions.... the phone is off the hook. If I ever watch a game with anyone at all, it must be someone who KNOWS the game, or if not, they have to shutup or go in the other room! ;-)

***

I saw this earlier in the paper, I thought you might like it.

"There's definitely a sense of urgency now." Teammate Jerome Bettis, 32, feels the same way. He has absorbed more hits than Anna Kournikova's Web site during his 12-year NFL career but has not yet played in a Super Bowl. Three years ago, Bettis missed a second-round playoff game against Baltimore because of a pain-killing injection that went awry. The Steelers won, but he still wasn't himself the next week in a conference title-game loss to New England. "You understand the importance of this opportunity more now," Bettis said. "At 25, you figure, 'I'll be back here.' "

Way back when, the Titans trained one summer at Amherst. Back in those days (summer '62) the so-called Eastern MA high school all-stars trained at UMAss Amherst.

Wise guy pros invite hero-worshipping HS hotshots out for a night on the town, with inevitable results.

I don't know whether I hurt worse from drinking or following the pro's (Curly Johnson, IIRC) orders to jog back to campus behind their car!

Memory lane...

“ There's no doubt that (the offensive line stability) has been one of the big keys to our success. It's a position where there is a lot of unspoken communication, where the guy next to you had to know exactly that you are doing in a certain situation, and how he is supposed to react. You only get that, at the highest level at least, when you can put the same group out there week after week. And, fortunately, we've been able to do that and it's made a difference. ”
— Jerome Bettis, Steelers RB

We have been so fortunate to have no injuries up front this year, except Simmons going down in camp.

We must take advantage of that good fortune. That offensive line communication is GOLD.

You're a hockey man, it must be the same in hockey. When you're down near that net and want to score, it's great to know where your team mates are going to be before they go there.

Remember when everybody counted out the Jets last week against the Chargers? A lot of people here are underestimating them. And I agree with the B.S. calls. Even the announcers during the game said they were bogus. This is definatly the game of the week.

Yep! The Steelers are ripe for the picking as some would say. Especially considering Cowher's track record in big games.

I expect we'll see the Coach's customary spit bubble blowing breakdown on the sideline followed the annual tear filled postgame press conference.

Too bad. They had a great regular season and the Steelers probably are the NFL's best team.

but they've made some collosal errors of late, even getting beat by the Miami Dolphins in the regular season.

Colossal errors? Hell, they only lost 2 games, went undefeated at home (for the second straight year). Miami always plays the Pats tough in Miami.

Using your logic, given that Indy went 13-3, they made more colossal errors, no?

I too will be looking for a game thread. And then we'll see if the poster who started this thread is right in his prediction! (I hope not!)

I'm retired now, but I remember at work, people would go crazy with Steelermania at playoff time. I used to have my black and gold color-coordinated outfits set out for days like today. The mania would start weeks before, and esp. the Thurs and Fri before the game. I always wore my corsage of black and gold ribbons. At work, we were allowed to listen to the game over headphones. You'd hear a big cheer, or a big groan, rise up in unison from all my co-workers, and you knew something momentous happened.

And we'd bring in Steeler cookies, little football-shaped cookies (brown and gold icing was the best they could do). It sure was an excuse to pig out!

The Jets are the worst team in the playoffs.

That is why it is going to be so suprising when they beat the mighty Steelers.

Jets by 3.
