You're fixated on the title. "Pope"

Could that be because the title of Pope and who uses it is the topic?

There were historically 5 major sees in Christendom. Rome, Antioch, Jerusalem, Alexandria, and Constantinople.

Looks like at least 3 of them are still in use.

Then no Pope could be convicted of heresy by an "infallible" Council and no "infallible" Pope would concur with that judgment.

Reggie, that is an excellent point! If popes are infallible then there is no such thing as a heretic pope.

Now that Terri Schiavo is all said and done, what side did everybody here come down on?

I think they used the law to legally murder her. It goes on all the time, but not to such a horrible way. When the mother of one of my friend's was dying the doctors gave her extra morphine to 'ease her pain'. That's just a nice way of saying 'push her over the edge'.

The TS case was different though, because she wasn't dying. At least, not until they decided to dehydrate her to death.

That's incorrect. Was everything that an OT prophet said infallible? No.

I'm afraid I don't see how the title of that thread matches the rest of the "article."

Do you remember 'China' from the old, old NES days? That the title and the article don't match isn't all that surprising. ;o)

I can't take credit for the following nor can I remember where I heard it or read it but....

"Since dying of starvation is such a peaceful, beautiful, gentle process we should use that 'wonderful' method of execution rather than such cruel methods as lethal injection."

PS. My mother was dying of colon cancer and chose to die in her own home under the home hospice program. As her pain and discomfort increased so did the supply of "pain killers". During her last weeks she was given a rather large supply of morphine with the instruction to "use as required".

There was no way in hell anybody knew what she wanted or what she understood if anything.

Nobody has the right to make that kind of a call for another person, nobody on earth.

Agreed. As I said, absent a specific written directive, the presumption should be that the person wants to live.

So far, so good. He should continue the prodding of ICEL and maybe even get the bishops to enforce the mandatum.

Not that you have any idea what that last sentence means. ;-)

It means that, God forbid, were the Arabs to win their cause and the Jewish state to go under, no people in the world would grieve and weep and mourn its loss other than our own Jewish kinsmen.

You believe that?
