My husband trained my Doberman for me, although he also trained me to work with her. Bear was trained when we got him (as a rescue) but had been trained in protection also. It was so awesome working with them and taking them places. I could have sworn they read my mind and they were both so wonderfully well behaved.
Well, guess it depends on how mad you are at him :)
I'm all ready to help her and you look for property and start building. I've got too much time and money sunk into my place to start over again, even though people are moving in by the hundreds. So - I'll just enjoy you guys doing it.
I didn't know that some lands had soil problems. My trainer told me before I buy anything to let her know and that she would send her husband (a farmer) to come check the soil because some overused for farming and I won't be able to grow good grass. Have you heard of that?
The property we looked at today in a town of 200
Night ladies - I'm going to go hide under the covers and hope when I wake up the sun is shining and the snow is gone.
Oops, not going to bed yet I guess :)
Yes, farm land can be depleted of good soil and nutrients. You can get the soil tested, generally by the extension agent too. If it's not been used for farming, it may just need whatever your soil in that area needs for the type of grass you pick - like nitrogen, etc.
It would be great if she and her husband could look at it for you.
That would be nice, you'd soon know everyone there. Is it close enough to a larger town for shopping, etc?
Now I'm gone, talk to you tomorrow.
Oh yeah. Lots of little towns around here. I still like the one best, close to my stables though. Just waiting to win the lottery:') Night yall. I have two spots cleaned off. Tecnically since it's already dark I have til tomorrow night to make peace but what the heck (grin)
Good morning.
Duchess47:The competitive trail riding I do is sort of like endurance, it's just not a race. You either do 40 or 60 miles over two days. There is a horsemanship judge and a vet judge. They tell you how fast to go, anywhere between 4-6 miles per hour. If you come in to early or to late, you either loose points or are disqualifed depending how off you are on time.
I'll post a link to the web site of the association that sponsors them.

Morning - though I am not sure I am staying up ;~D
I let Bay our to pee, it's wet out with just a hint of slush falling with the rain.
Well, I wasn't ready to get up when I did, but the cat was sitting outside my window howling to come in.
The forecast here is still calling for the next three days in the 60's :) Then back down to the 20's

None of those look right.

You were building it behind my house......
That's why I'm going to try barrels with him and use Harley as my competitive trail horse.
He's sounding less 'for sale' all the time, not that there is anything wrong with that ;~D
Was ~that~ where it was? Well, it was a lovely big barn!
How is your back, how's your own barn project, how's the baby, and how's that pregnant mare?
Oh - and how's your weather?
